We currently have an opening for an Industrial Test Technician in our Mason, Ohio location.
The Industrial Test Technician is a critical, hands-on role responsible for accelerating the development of new and innovative door systems for Clopay. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the creative team, contributing to the innovation process from initial brainstorming and conceptualization, functional prototypes, through final testing. This individual will assist with managing the Innovation Center.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Participate in Ideation & Brainstorming on new products leveraging practical knowledge and hands-on experience to contribute new ideas and identify challenges early.
  • Testing & Data Collection: Set up and conduct mechanical and electrical tests on prototypes according to established procedures. Collect, record and document test data.
  • Provide hands-on insight during Design for Manufacturing reviews with Operations and the NPD team for team's understanding of processes required to produce new product designs.
  • Assist with ownership of the R&D lab, including tool management, inventory tracking of prototype parts, and ensuring a clean, safe, and highly organized work environment using 5S principles.
  • Physically perform all test function duties assigned, including door installation, testing, disassemble and including general housekeeping.
  • Design and build equipment and fixtures utilized in product testing.
  • Prepare necessary reports, layouts, detail and assembly drawings, or memoranda, which document approach, findings, and recommendations of assigned projects.
  • Responsible for following and helping others to follow the company's safety policy.
  • Responsible for bringing together the various products related to trade shows in 'show quality' acceptable to Marketing. Prepare products as needed for customer tours of the laboratory.
  • Review and enforcement of safety rules in Technical Center
  • Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in technology or science.
  • Minimum of 4 - 10 years in a manufacturing company directly involved in the testing and development of products.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office package (or equivalent), blue print reading and mechanical computer aided drafting skills.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude and proficiency with a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and stationary shop equipment (e.g., milling machines, drill presses, band saws, presses, plasma cutter).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Welding and metal fabrication experience.
  • Periodically lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 75 lb. to eye level.
  • Climbs on ladders periodically.
  • Ability to be qualified to drive a forklift.
