JOB DESCRIPTION/DUTIES:

The Junior Data Analyst works in concert with the Technology Transfer Office of the Naval Research Laboratory to audit, update, maintain, and improve Technology Transfer database records. This role supports data accuracy, quality assurance, reporting, official records maintenance, and the tracking of technology inventions and discoveries associated with Research and Development projects that may have commercialization potential.

Data Management & Database Quality

Work in concert with the Technology Transfer Office of the Naval Research Laboratory to audit and update Technology Transfer database records to ensure accuracy.

Develop and maintain data management and quality assurance/quality control procedures that improve the consistency and accuracy of Technology Transfer database records.

Oversee the aggregation, assimilation, and curation of data into a coherent repository.

Maintain the accuracy of the Technology Transfer database to support various reporting requirements.

Coordinate and perform data entry.

Reporting & Data Analysis

Generate synthesized data reports to facilitate informed decision-making, analyses, and recommendations.

Support monthly new technology reporting and data analysis.

Review and analyze current data collection methods.

Develop new operating procedures to optimize the efficiency of gathering data records while ensuring content accuracy.

Records Maintenance & Documentation

Develop and refine the maintenance of official records within the technology transfer database, including technical reports, requirement documents, technology transition agreements, and memoranda.

Develop standard operating procedures to record methods of data collection and reporting.

Ensure database records and related documentation are accurate, organized, and maintained in accordance with customer requirements.

Technology Transfer Support

Support the identification, tracking, and disclosure of technology inventions and discoveries associated with Research and Development projects that have the potential for commercialization.

Assist in maintaining data and records that support Technology Transfer Office reporting, analysis, and decision-making needs.

Manage and maintain SharePoint intranet site content.

Support outreach events and conferences, as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/EXPERTISE REQUIREMENT:

Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Library Science, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).

1-3 years of relevant or related experience.

Experience working with databases and ensuring data quality.

Experience working with Microsoft SharePoint, Office 365, and Minuet database.

Familiarity with database software, data processing, and reporting tools.

Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently or under minimal guidance.

Excellent oral and written communications skills.

Ability to pass a government suitability test.

U.S. Citizenship.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/EXPERTISE:

Active DoD clearance.

Experience supporting federal government customers.

Experience with data quality assurance, data validation, and reporting processes.

Familiarity with Technology Transfer, Research and Development, inventions, disclosures, or commercialization processes.

Experience developing standard operating procedures or process documentation.

Experience maintaining official records, technical reports, agreements, memoranda, or related documentation.
