Title: Project Manager
Reports to: Regional Manager
Class: Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt
POSITION OVERVIEW: Plans, organizes directs, and controls project activities required for effective management of projects. Supervises installation labor and sub-contractors. Works with financial reports, contracts, management reports, and tools to define project problems to assure project profitability. Responsible for organizing training, developing employees, and for the quality of installation.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  1. Plans and schedules, installation, and subcontracting activities on large and/or complex systems or service installed jobs.
  2. Maintains current job plans and specifications.
  3. Works with engineering department on design and drafting phases of jobs.
  4. Coordinates the procurement of materials, supplies, services, and controls timely delivery to the job site.
  5. Prepares, manages, and executes the project installation plan.
  6. Determines from reviewing various sources of information the necessary changes in design, contract price, and installation plan.
  7. Implements agreed changes to project scope.
  8. Maintains construction schedule and coordinates task scheduling with other trades.
  9. Selects and monitors the performance of subcontractors.
    Keeps self, superiors, and subordinates informed of progress/status of projects.
  10. Maintains all digital records relating to jobs including job status, material purchases, contacts, job changes, prints, submittals, quotes, needs assessments, packing list, email correspondence, and other control records.
  11. Reviews estimate or assist in estimating projects that the company is bidding.
  12. May be called upon to assist in site survey along with sales/engineering to secure accurate estimations.
  13. Implements quality assurance program to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
  14. Present a professional image of the company when speaking to customers (all levels).
  15. Develops a relationship with the decision maker of our customer.
    Routinely walks job site to ensure quality installation of company products and updates customer/decision maker of project status in documented format.
  16. Responsible for customer satisfaction on projects.
  17. Monitors job status and controls job costs.
  18. Provides information to determine labor and material requirements on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis as required depending on the status of the project.
  19. Assists management in monthly resource allocation forecasting.
    Ensure proper job management and cost control by reviewing job financial reports.
  20. Reviews the data required for monthly job billings with the office manager.
  21. Monitors job reports and works with other management tools to define project problems.
  22. Reviews timecards to analyze job performance.
  23. Devises a plan of action to remedy job problems and implements a plan to ensure project profitability.

Training and development:
  1. Literature studies and attend seminars to stay current with regards to products, processes, and materials.
  2. Works with installers on job concepts, installation procedures, and product training for their advancement.

Job Closure
  1. Responsible for overseeing As-Builds.
  2. Responsible for completing all paperwork, ensuring POs are completed, warranty letter is sent, and jobs are turned over to service.
  3. Job is 100% billed and revenue is taken.
  4. Job close out report is completed.
  5. Contact Training Specialist and provide contact information for scheduling purposes at the appropriate time according to scheduled completion.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
Supervises Installers, Apprentices and Subcontractors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge:
  1. High school education or equivalent.
  2. Associate degree (2 year) or bachelor s degree (4 year) in a technical capacity is desirable.
  3. Project Management experience. IT Project + or PMP certification desired

Skills and abilities:
  1. Five years of experience in engineering and installation of low voltage systems, or related field.
  2. Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals, relay logic, and operations. Good subcontracting skills.
  3. Excellent written & oral communication skills required.
  4. An understanding of job financial reports and the ability to control costs in the handling of large projects.
  5. Experience with IT-related equipment (CCTV/Intercom/Access Control/ Safety & Security) is strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to see, hear, speak and write clearly to communicate with employees and/or other customers; manual dexterity required for occasional reaching and lifting of small objects, and operating office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Team oriented work environment.
  • The office is clean, orderly, properly lit and ventilated. Noise levels are considered low to moderate.
  • Site work conditions are like typical construction projects.
  • Some out of travel may be required.
