Job description

Position Summary
The GI Reprocessing business develops Automated Endoscope Reprocessing (AER) equipment used in hospitals throughout the world. This complex equipment cleans delicate instrumentation and ensures physicians can safely perform surgeries. Join a highly collaborative team that impacts the design and development of this critical equipment.
The Advanced Designer is responsible for design, detailed drafting (CREO), and PLM (Windchill) design control on AER products to meet project and company needs. Aids in the development of specifications for electromechanical products and assists in resolving design problems in support of New Product Development.
Note: This position is located onsite in Plymouth, MN.
What You'll Do As An Advanced Designer.
  • Reliably produces high quality designs and documentation that are first time right.
  • Develops complex product designs and associated engineering documentation with limited guidance from engineers or lead designers.
  • Solves problems independently utilizing problem solving techniques, referencing historical designs, referencing standards and other resources.
  • Effectively utilizes design tools (CREO Preferred) within Product Lifecycle Management systems (Windchill Preferred) to control and release designs.
  • Provides accurate effort estimates and then executes design efforts on time.
  • Contributes to the establishment of drafting best practices
  • Leads communication with vendors, sourcing, manufacturing, service and other functions to realize designs.
  • Mentors' designers on technical and process topics.
  • Performs quality review for other designers work products prior to engineering review.
  • Analyzes design changes for product and manufacturing impacts.
  • Plans, organizes and coordinates the work packages for the designer team to deliver to the project's expectations.
  • Manages small to moderate design projects within scope of existing design projects or changes, and all downstream cross functions, while works with appropriate subject matter owners.
  • Represents Designers as a high-level resource project planner.

The Experience, Skills & Abilities Needed
Required:
  • Technical Associates degree, drafting certification in related field
  • 12+ years of progressive experience
  • Proficiency with advanced functions of technical software design packages (CREO, Altium, AutoCAD)
  • Expert in advanced/complex technical design documentation (drafting, schematics, layouts)
  • Expert in product lifecycle management through release and change management documentation.
  • Experienced designing in multiple manufacturing methods within the technical function (machining, injection molding, cable harnesses, PCBAs, etc.)
  • Proven experience leading fellow designers through delegation and individual development.
  • Proven experience in resource planning and executing designer work packages as part of larger development projects.
  • Involvement in complex product development from concept through production.
  • Working knowledge of technical standards within the technical area of expertise (GD&T, ANSI Y14.5, UL)
  • Proficient in Microsoft products; Excel, Word, Project, Power Point and Visio.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Specific Work Preferences
  • Significant Experience working with Creo
  • Significant experience working with Windchill PLM

Pay range for this opportunity is $79,040.00 - $97,656.00. This position is also eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
