Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Technical Designer to join our team. The Technical Designer serves as the critical link between Design, Product Development, and Production, ensuring that creative concepts are translated into sales sample to production-ready garments that meet fit, quality, cost, and construction standards.

This role is responsible for developing accurate technical specifications, managing fit development, and collaborating closely with vendors and cross-functional teams to deliver products that align with brand expectations and customer needs. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passion for creating high-quality apparel.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Design & Product Development

  • Create detailed technical sketches, construction details, measurement specifications, and comprehensive tech packs for product development teams to follow.
  • Translate design concepts into clear and accurate technical specifications that can be effectively executed by factory partners.
  • Develop and maintain garment specifications from prototype through final production approval.
  • Review and evaluate garment construction, workmanship, fit, and overall product quality throughout the development process.

Fit & Pattern Management

  • Conduct fit sessions, document fit comments, and communicate corrections to vendors and pattern makers.
  • Analyze patterns, and construction methods to ensure proper fit, consistency, and manufacturability.
  • Review and approve prototypes, to ensure adherence to design intent and company standards.
  • Collaborate with design and product development teams to resolve fit and construction issues efficiently.

Vendor & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with designers, and factory partners, to ensure product specifications are feasible and production ready.
  • Communicate technical requirements, fit corrections, and construction details clearly and effectively.
  • Support sourcing initiatives by evaluating fabrics, trims, and construction methods that align with quality, cost, and design objectives.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate successful product execution.

Quality & Process Management

  • Establish and maintain quality standards for garment fit, construction, and finishing.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of specifications, fit history, revisions, and approvals.
  • Ensure products meet company quality standards, brand expectations, and production requirements.



Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Development, or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of Technical Design experience for junior-level roles or 5+ years for senior-level positions.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, grading, fit analysis, textiles, and fabric performance.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and industry-standard CAD software.
  • Experience creating and maintaining technical packages, specification sheets, and fit documentation.
  • Strong understanding of apparel manufacturing processes and production requirements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve fit, construction, and quality issues.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 3โ€“5+ years of progressive experience in apparel technical design and product development.
  • Experience working directly with overseas factories.
  • Strong knowledge of woven, knit, and specialty fabrications.
  • Experience managing vendor communications and technical development through production.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Experience supporting multiple product categories and garment types.
