Job description

Description
The Department of Political Science at Baylor University seeks a full-time, Assistant Teaching Professor in American Politics to begin August 2027. The primary teaching responsibility will be teaching PSC 1387: The U.S. Constitution, Its Interpretation, and the American Political Experience, a general education course required of nearly all undergraduates. Additionally, the candidate may have the opportunity to develop other American politics courses. The ability to develop other introductory courses in a second subfield would be welcome, but not expected.
Assistant Teaching Professor appointments are renewable full-time, benefits-eligible, teaching-focused positions with six-year promotion paths to Associate Teaching Professor for successful candidates and twelve-year promotion paths to Teaching Professor for highly successful candidates.
Complete applications must be submitted by 11pm Central Time on November 15, 2026.
Candidates who are outside of the United States and do not have other nonimmigrant visa status will not be sponsored for an H-1B petition.

Candidate must have a Ph.D. in political science or a related field by the time of appointment.
Teaching experience is preferred.
