Job description

IMEG is hiring a Project Surveyor in Kalispell, MT, to support production surveying work across land surveying projects. In this role, you will apply diversified knowledge of surveying principles and practices while supporting project work under the leadership of a Senior Survey Coordinator or Senior Land Surveyor. You'll also use surveying experience and judgment to perform calculations and related work that is reviewed within established practices, systems, and examples.
Principal Responsibilities
• Perform construction stakeout, boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys
• Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reports
• Complete boundary reductions and mapping/topographic field reductions in CAD and survey software
• Download, maintain, and verify project survey data and manage the survey database
• Review survey production, final products, processed data collection, and field notes for quality control
• Prepare survey computations, staking/control exhibits, and survey crew instructions for construction staking and field survey projects
• Operate and assist with GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors, and other survey equipment
• Lead CAD Techs in preparing plans and plats describing the surveys performed
• Maintain professional and productive working relationships with clients and coworkers
• Mentor and assist in training junior staff members
• Operate a company vehicle and observe safety and security procedures
• Advanced knowledge of land surveying operations, computations, principles and practices
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans and construction documents
• Knowledge and ability to deal with public and governmental agencies, manage field crews, and schedule equipment and supplies
• Proficient in on-site office operation, office workflow processes and problem-solving techniques
• Advanced understanding of survey operations and identification of potential problems
• Proficient with AutoCAD C3D, survey, GPS, MS Office software
• Problem solving techniques
• Possesses oral and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with clients, officials, contractors, coworkers and professionally represent IMEG
• Valid driver's license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check
• Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor of Science (BS) or Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
• Land Surveyor (LS) License required with ability to obtain PLS in the next 1-2 years
• 4 years of experience minimum required in the Surveying and Construction Industry
Physical Requirements
• Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds
• Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull
