Job description

About

The selected candidate will collaborate with a team of skilled Process Control Specialists to improve Weyerhaeuser's EWP manufacturing operations and lead new technology projects. A background in engineering or technology, combined with strong programming and problem-solving skills, will be essential for success in this role. This is a full-time, exempt position within the EWP Process Control Group. The remote role supports the Northwest region and requires up to 50% travel to meet project and mill support needs across the business line.

Key Functions:

  • Implement preventative and predictive maintenance methods and systems to reduce unscheduled downtown and utilize reliable troubleshooting methods to ensure production volume, quality, and overall reliability goals are met. Train and mentor electrical technicians with a key focus on safety.
  • Will work closely with industrial maintenance groups, including process control technicians, industrial electricians and millwrights.
  • Execute project management approach to successfully implement electrical, power, and controls projects at the various sites.

Location

The preferred locations for candidates to be based are Washington, Oregon or Montana. This role is open to candidates who live in, or plan to relocate to, one of the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, or Washington. Candidates outside these states or other countries are not eligible. 

        Bachelor's degree in an engineering field preferred

        5 years of PLC programming experience preferred, ideally with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell systems

        Strong proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and HMI programming software, such as Wonderware and FactoryTalk View SE

        Experience with VMware or other hypervisor virtualization software

        Ability to program and troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs)

        Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting motion control systems preferred

        Experience with medium-voltage power distribution preferred

        Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance systems and techniques

        Ability to read and interpret electrical power and control system schematics

        Ability to identify root causes and initiate immediate corrective actions to prevent recurrence

        Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred

        Strong planning and organizational skills

        Experience with SAP or another CMMS program

        Proficient with Microsoft Office, other Windows-based programs, and internet tools

        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively at all organizational levels

        Strong work ethic, sound judgment, and effective decision-making skills

        Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends when needed, and respond to calls outside normal business hours

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $119,000-$178,700 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 20% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

 

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours and paid parental leave for all full-time employees.
