Job description

The Outside Sales Rep - Retail/HIW (Home Improvement Warehouse) is an outside sales role tasked to develop, maintain, and profitably grow relationships with HIW customers. They own the customer and buyer relationship at the store level with accounts in the Southern California market. This includes pro-desk associates, store managers, and local outside (pro) sales teams. As part of an integrated sales team, they are focused on delivering value to customers and achieving sales and margin growth expectations. Additionally, they are responsible for promoting and selling Distribution's full range of products, with an emphasis on engineered wood and specialty building products.
The ideal candidate will reside in the IE (Inland Empire), SD (San Diego), or OC (Orange County).
Accountabilities:
  • Establishes, cultivates, and protects the store relationship and buyer relationship with assigned customers.
  • Coordinates customer strategies in support of delivering superior value to customers and growing wallet-share and profitability.
  • Uses market knowledge, relationships, and growing experience to seek out opportunities with new and existing customers for Distribution's full range of products.
  • Gathers market intelligence and translates it into valuable input to drive decisions around product mix, pricing, inventory levels and demand outlook. Uses that input to help drive decision-making.
  • Develops and executes marketing and communication plans with customers, including promotions, specials, market pull through activities, updates to products/pricing/service, and supporting in-store samples/literature/display needs.

Qualifications
  • Proven success supporting large and complex accounts, including building and maintaining key customer relationships, informing programs and promotions, and negotiating solutions to enhance profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communications skills (authentic, adaptive, persuasive, ability to influence decision makers).
  • Analyzes the customer's business and develops solutions leveraging Distribution products and services.
  • Proactively builds sales pipelines, and leverages processes and tools to advance opportunities.
  • Successfully collaborates within a team environment and reaches across organizational and functional boundaries.
  • Experience with building materials products, including engineered wood products. Familiarity with Weyerhaeuser's distributed products, their selling features/benefits, and the competitive products around them.
  • Previous experience with retail/home improvement is a strong plus.
  • Sales experience with engineered wood products, and top brands in Outdoor Living and Siding & Trim products are a plus.
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum HS Diploma/GED
  • 3+ years' experience in building materials distribution sales
  • Bachelor's degree is a plus

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $69,000 - $104,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Sales Incentive Program, which offers a quarterly cash bonus.
