Job description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Welcome Center Associate Staff at The YMCA of Greater Monmouth County intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. Under the direct supervision of the Membership Director, the Welcome Center Associate Staff will be welcoming, friendly, courteous and attentive to members/guests, making every effort to build relationships with and engage members/guests in conversation when possible. Assist to promote and sell Y programs, services and events.

  • Demonstrate YMCA core character values of caring, honesty, inclusion, respect, and responsibility in all interactions with employees, members, staff and others; commit to ongoing professional development.
  • Embrace and adhere to service excellence standards; staying current on YMCA services, programs and events in order to provide outstanding service to your customers and constituents.
  • Answer phones and phone messages in a professional and timely manner, trying to understand the caller's needs to assist them before directing calls to appropriate department and/or person.
  • Responsible for providing facility tours to prospective members by following established tour guidelines and working towards making the sale at the conclusion of the tour.
  • Responsible for being able to utilize the Daxko system to check members in, sell memberships, update member information, look up membership information, register participants into programs, as well as closing out your shift and running a shift report.
  • Process and record all cash receipts: new memberships, membership renewals, program registration, merchandise and gift certificates, etc. follow receipting and deposit procedures.
  • Assisting with front desk tasks such as filing, making return phone calls and mailings.
  • Responsible for maintaining a work area that is neat and organized.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school education/GED equivalent
  • CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire date
  • Previous customer service, sales or related experience
  • Basic knowledge of computers
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
