Business Associate Staffing/ Central Staffing provides assistance and guidance to nursing supervisors/managers/staff in need of general department information; provides clerical and telephone support to department and performs computer input of data for the five southern HMH hospitals (BMC, RMC, JSUMC, OMC and SOMC.)

This position requires working every other weekend and covering two holidays: one summer holiday and one winter holiday. The shift time is 12:45 p.m.–10:15 p.m. 


A day in the life of a Business Associate Staffing at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Assists in securing additional nursing resources under direction the Nursing Supervisor to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Makes recruitment calls to attain available staff and status is communicated to the Nursing Supervisor.
  • Makes daily Patient observer recruitment calls to secure coverage.
  • Enters schedule changes into the staffing system including date/time changes, call outs and cancellation of shifts.
  • Enters benefit time changes such as PTOU, PTOS, Holiday etc. into the payroll system, using appropriate codes and complete information.
  • Performs computer input completely, accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Enters census and acuity changes into the staffing system.
  • Completes Department of Health calculation for staffing ratios for all nursing units.
  • Completes Department of Health Staffing forms and faxes in a timely manner. 10. Maintains office supplies and equipment.
  • Keeps office and work area neat and clean.
  • Printers and fax machine are checked, and paper filled as needed.
  • Change toner cartridges as needed.
  • Replenish department forms daily. 
  • Files hospital and department records in appropriate binders.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes, and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs. and stands a minimum of 1 hour a day.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Minimum 1 year related experience.
  • Excellent Communication and Customer Service Skills, Ability to handle heavy phone volume.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Some college or Associate's degree.
  • Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel.
