Job description


A manufacturing company in TN is looking to hire four (4) contract to permanent Pipe Supporting Designers to join their company in Kodak, TN. Designers are responsible for creating plans, designs, specifications and drawings based on calculations and written instructions provided by customers, or engineers. These are used to build a range of different products, from pipe support systems to standardized support components, using computer-aided design software applications.
General Duties:
  1. Create, review, or revise product or pipe support plans and specifications.
  2. Design components for new or existing products or applications.
  3. Ensure accuracy of drawings and bills of materials generated by CADD/Designers;minimize or eliminate rework in manufacturing.
  4. Work in a team environment to ensure accuracy and provide quality work.
  5. Participate in meetings and work closely with estimating, manufacturing, OL, production and customer personnel to ensure quality design of new or redesigned products.
  6. Ensure that design ideas are sound and in keeping with budgetary constraints.
  7. Maintain working knowledge of the industry and apply industry specific codes and standards with the specifications of the designs that have been assigned.
  8. Ability to work within specific MicroStation and NAVISWORKS environments and Auto CAD.
  9. Ensure that electronic files of design documentation and other engineering data are securely maintained.
  10. Verify drawings and documents are in accordance with engineering standards before release to manufacturing.
  11. Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  1. Vocational and technical school certifications/diplomas in AutoCAD
  2. Must Have 3+ years of experience in 3-D modeling environment working specifically on pipe supports.
  3. Associates degree in industrial design or engineering is preferred.
  4. Knowledgeable of the industry safety and procedural requirements.
  5. Working knowledge of and/or experience with ASME 31.1/3 is desired
  6. Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office software required in job.
  7. Conceptualization skills are required to visualize finished products and projects. Skills in computer aided drafting techniques, and structural drafting preferred.
  8. Goal-focused, thrive in a fast-paced collaborative team environment.
  9. Excellent oral/written communication and creative problem-solving skills. Possess the ability to communicate with and transfer information to and from the customer and transfer drawing or report information to and from other engineers & technicians.
These are onsite positions, and Designers will become permanent employees in six (6) months.
