Senior Commercial Associate, Software
Department: Commercial - Sales & Account Management
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Description
Aurora Energy Research sits at the heart of the global energy transition - trusted by over 1000 utilities, investors, developers, and governments to navigate the global energy transition. Our proprietary software and data platforms are how the industry's biggest players model markets, value assets, and make billion-dollar decisions.
We're looking for a senior commercial professional who know the energy sector inside out and is ready to work at the intersection of deep market expertise and enterprise software sales. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role - you'll own strategic relationships with key accounts, shape our go-to-market approach for major clients, and help define how Aurora's software portfolio grows. If you've spent time in energy markets, consultancy, or energy SaaS and you're looking for a role where your sector knowledge becomes a genuine commercial superpower, this is it.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Sales & Key Account Management
  • Lead complex, high-value enterprise sales cycles with Aurora's most strategic accounts - including major utilities, energy developers, green funds, and institutional investors
  • Own and grow a portfolio of key accounts, developing multi-stakeholder relationships from technical teams through to C-suite
  • Structure and negotiate sophisticated commercial agreements, including multi-product and multi-year deals
  • Drive cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across Aurora's full software suite, identifying where our tools can deepen client value

Strategy & Market Positioning
  • Act as a trust advisor to clients - leveraging your energy market knowledge to frame Aurora's software solutions in the context of real commercial and regulatory challenges
  • Contribute to go-to-market strategy for software products, working with product and marketing teams to sharpen Aurora's positioning in target segments
  • Provide market intelligence and client feedback to inform the product roadmap, ensuring Aurora's tools stay ahead of industry needs
  • Represent Aurora at senior-level industry event, conference, and client forums

Commercial Operations
  • Maintain rigorous pipeline discipline in Salesforce, with accurate forecasting and deal documentation across all stages
  • Mentor junior members of the Technical Sales team, sharing sector knowledge and best practices
  • Collaborate with the Technical Sales Marketing team on targeted campaigns and thought leadership initiatives aimed at senior energy sector audiences

What we are looking for
Required attributes:
  • At least two years of professional experience in the energy sector - in a commercial, analytical, advisory, or market-facing role
  • Substantive knowledge of wholesale power markets, battery storage systems, or renewable energy project finance
  • The commercial gravitas to lead enterprise sales conversations with senior stakeholders - you're comfortable negotiating complex deals and navigating long cycles
  • Excellent communicator: you can translate technically complex energy and software concepts into clear, compelling business cases
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail - you manage multiple high-stakes relationships without dropping the ball
  • Fluent in written and spoken English

Strong preference for candidates from:
  • A track record of working with or for major energy developers, utilities, green funds, or institutional energy investors
  • An energy analytics, research, or consultancy firm
  • A strategy consultancy
  • An energy SaaS or technology provider serving utilities, developers, or investors
  • An energy developer, utility, or green infrastructure fund in a commercial or market-facing capacity

Desirable attributes:
  • A degree in energy systems, sustainability, finance, economics, or a related discipline
  • Experience with Salesforce or comparable enterprise CRM platforms
  • Fluency in a major European language

What we offer
  • A fun, informal, collaborative and international work culture
  • A competitive salary and benefits package
  • Access to regular coaching and mentoring sessions and the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals
  • A brand-new office space in the vibrant and culturally rich East Austin area
  • Access to the Aurora Academy, our training program offering a range of opportunities to develop your skills
