We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Distribution Design Engineer to join our team at K&A Power Group in Syracuse, NY or Boston, MA. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. Role Expectations:
  • Design electric distribution projects including overhead and underground systems, service upgrades, line extensions, and system improvement initiatives.
  • Develop construction work packages, engineering drawings, and project documentation in compliance with National Grid standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct field visits and site assessments to gather design information and validate project requirements.
  • Prepare cost estimates, material specifications, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, municipalities, contractors, and customers throughout project lifecycles.
  • Support permitting, easement, and right-of-way activities as needed.
  • Ensure designs meet safety, reliability, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Utilize GIS, CAD, and utility design software to prepare and maintain accurate engineering records.
  • Assist with storm restoration efforts and emergency response activities when required.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established deadlines and budget expectations.

What we're looking for:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline; equivalent utility experience may be considered.
  • Experience in electric utility distribution design, utility operations, engineering support, or related infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of utility construction practices, industry standards, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Experience with GIS, CAD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar design tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel locally to project sites.

Pay Range $80,000-$120,000/year
