ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Sustaining Software to join our dynamic Infectious Disease team in San Diego, California.

The Opportunity
The Senior Manager, Sustaining Software will manage a team of engineers that are responsible for the software of on market diagnostic instruments including ID NOW and DIGIVAL. This role is key in maintaining the business continuity by keeping our on-market instruments relevant to customers and helping the Commercial organization drive revenues to sustain the business. This role is key to maintaining the demand and relevance of our on-market products through quick and thorough responses to customer needs, questions, and complaints.

What You'll Work On

  • Business continuity: Assemble, manage and supervise the team of engineers responsible for supporting and maintaining the installed base of ID NOW and DIGIVAL instruments.
  • Accountable for supporting the commercial organization through answering questionnaires we regularly receive from the higher end enterprise customers with high standards for cybersecurity.
  • Determines scope of maintenance projects and prioritizes the backlog of scope features and defects for the projects.
  • Accountable for the development, validation, and maintenance of tools that support the on-market projects (ID NOW and DIGIVAL).
  • Accountable for the cybersecurity maturity of the ID NOW system, by running vulnerability assessments and investigating any cybersecurity issues found in the field.
  • Accountable for complaint, QI, and CAPA investigations and meeting metrics to complete the activities in a timely manner.
  • Manages performance of staff towards department and Company goals, including feedback on performance, appraisals, recommendations for merit increases or necessary disciplinary actions, communication to employees on performance, etc.
  • Establish department goals, milestones, and timelines for completion.
  • Understands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job; has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities
  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships
  • Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies
  • Other duties as assigned, according to the changing needs of the business

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related engineering field
  • 10 years' experience as a software engineer
  • 3 yearsofexperience in technical leadership
  • Experience developing medical device products in a regulated environment, experience in Agile software development methodologies such as Scrum, Test Driven Development, and experience as a Scrum Master
