Job description

ROLE
WHC LLC (A Surerus Murphy Company) (WHC), is seeking to recruit skilled Associate Civil Estimator to join our team focused on utility-scale solar projects. The Associate Civil Estimator plays a crucial role in our pre-construction phase, accurately estimating costs for civil construction activities associated with large-scale solar installations. The Associate Civil Estimator’s expertise will ensure that our projects are competitively priced while maintaining high standards of quality and adherence to project timelines
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction activities, including earthwork, foundations, roads, drainage systems, and landscaping for solar and BESS sites.
  • Analyze project plans and specifications to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and procurement teams to ensure accurate cost inputs and competitive bidding.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary information for estimating.
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency in estimating processes.
  • Responsible for creating, submitting, and reviewing subcontractor RFP scope documents to incorporate into final project pricing.
  • Prepare and present cost estimates and proposals to management and clients.

Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.
Experience
  • Minimum of 1 – 2 years of experience in civil estimating, earthwork estimating, or a related civil construction discipline.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Proficiency in estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, Trimble Business Center, AGTEK) and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Familiarity in estimating foundations is an asset. (Concrete, Pile, Helical etc.)

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is based at our Lafayette, LA office. Travel to project sites may be required.
