What is associate services?

Associate Services typically refer to a department or set of functions within an organization that supports employees, often called associates, with resources such as HR assistance, benefits administration, onboarding, and workplace support. These services are designed to enhance employee productivity, satisfaction, and well-being by addressing their professional and sometimes personal needs. The Associate Services team may handle tasks such as payroll queries, employee engagement programs, and assistance with company policies. They act as a bridge between the organization's management and its workforce, ensuring smooth operations and a positive work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an associate services professional?

To thrive as an Associate Services professional, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a background in business administration or a related field. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software, office productivity tools, and sometimes basic project management systems is typically required. These skills ensure efficient service delivery, positive client interactions, and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

As a Fixed Income Middle Office Associate in Asset Management, you will support the end-to-end execution of fixed income trade activity, with a focus on private and securitized products. You will partner closely with portfolio managers and internal operations teams to ensure accurate trade capture, settlement readiness, and timely downstream processing. You will apply strong analytical judgment to resolve breaks, manage priorities, and reduce operational risk. You will contribute to continuous improvement by enhancing procedures, controls, and platform efficiency. You will build trusted relationships across teams and communicate insights clearly to stakeholders.
Job responsibilities

  • Support the closing process for private securitized deals, including Know Your Customer (KYC) activities and trade settlement coordination
  • Serve as a central point of contact for operational support related to private securitized products across Asset Management partners
  • Provide daily operational support to securitized fixed income portfolio managers
  • Ensure trade details are captured and communicated accurately to downstream partners, including fund accounting, custody, and performance teams
  • Assist with operational support for bank loans and debt restructuring activity, as needed
  • Identify and drive process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and operating platform resilience
  • Design, document, and maintain policies and procedures that support the investment business
  • Maintain a strong controls environment, including oversight of offshore processes and issue remediation
  • Monitor exceptions and breaks, perform root-cause analysis, and implement prevention measures
  • Prepare and present operational insights, trends, and risks to stakeholders as needed
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, data, and responses in a timely manner
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • 2 years of relevant fixed income experience, ideally supporting securitized products
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment and attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills across a range of stakeholder levels
  • Ability to build productive working relationships across teams in a matrixed environment
  • Working knowledge of fixed income trade lifecycle processes (trade capture, confirmations, settlement, and exceptions)
  • Understanding of accounting principles and performance and attribution concepts
  • Strong quantitative capability and comfort working with formulas and risk/performance measures
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience documenting procedures and supporting control-focused operating practices
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline from an accredited institution
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Hands-on experience with fixed income trading and/or order management platforms
  • Experience supporting private or less liquid products (e.g., private securitizations, bank loans)
  • Experience partnering with performance, accounting, and custody teams to resolve breaks and improve data quality
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset (process mapping, control enhancements, automation ideas)
  • Strong digital literacy and ability to adopt new tools and workflows quickly
  • Familiarity using analytics, automation, and/or machine learning concepts to improve operational processes
