Overview

Job Summary

Work with current personnel to learn skills to effectively support, analyze, and document servers and systems focused on corporate office, stores, and distribution centers. Learn skills required for the administration and integrity of server and storage infrastructure. Become a technical resource on server team for server team projects. Install and maintain server and storage hardware. Consistently provide friendly and engaging customer service to internal and external customers. Perform related work.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with IT Staff to learn how to analyze server and systems performance and isolate issues.
  • Learn to monitor the physical and virtual environment to ensure safe and reliable operation and conformance to Service Level Agreements and performance metrics.
  • Monitor and maintain the physical and virtual server infrastructure and related applications and respond to alerts as necessary.
  • Monitor, test, and report on server and systems performance.
  • Practice hardware and software asset management, including maintenance of systems component inventory.
  • Participate in research on server products, services, and standards.
  • Learn about configuration, administration and customization of operational software, systems, utilities, and processes.
  • Gain understanding of systems resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.

Requirements

Education:

  • Associates in a technology related discipline or demonstrated equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Demonstrating knowledge of server hardware and operating systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DHCP, DNS, and other network related services.
  • Familiarity with the following: Veeam backup software, vCenter virtualization software, Creating and managing VMs and server configurations in a VMware environment.
  • Exhibiting strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.

Preferred Education, Experience and/or Credentials:

  • MCITP
  • VCP
