Job description

Job Title: Associate ScientistJob Description

The Associate Scientist within the Attribute Sciences Process Development Group performs analytical testing of process-related impurities to support the development of large-molecule therapeutics. This role generates essential data for purification scientists on the clearance of process-related impurities and contributes to the development and transfer of analytical methods to various laboratories, including Quality Control, for release testing of clinical and commercial materials.

Responsibilities
  • Perform analytical testing of process-related impurities to support large-molecule process development.
  • Generate and interpret data that informs purification scientists about the clearance of process-related impurities.
  • Analyze routine samples using ELISA assays with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
  • Interpret ELISA results and prepare clear, concise data summaries and reports.
  • Document experimental procedures, data, and results in electronic laboratory notebooks in accordance with established standards.
  • Conduct peer review of electronic notebooks to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with documentation requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of analytical methods for process-related impurity testing.
  • Support the transfer of developed analytical methods to internal analytical laboratories, including Quality Control, for clinical and commercial release testing.
  • Collaborate closely with purification scientists and cross-functional teams to support ongoing process development activities.
  • Communicate findings, issues, and recommendations effectively to colleagues and project teams.
Essential Skills
  • M.S. degree or equivalent advanced education in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work or industry experience in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Hands-on experience performing ELISA assays in a laboratory setting.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present and explain scientific data clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team player in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to interpret analytical data and draw scientifically sound conclusions.
  • Proficiency in documenting experiments, data, and results in electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of data integrity and quality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Background in large-molecule or biologics development is beneficial.
  • Experience with analytical methods for process-related impurity testing is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with method development and method transfer processes within analytical or Quality Control laboratories.
  • Ability to participate in peer review of scientific documentation and provide constructive feedback.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple samples, experiments, and documentation tasks in a dynamic environment.
Work Environment

This role operates in a laboratory-based process development environment focused on large-molecule therapeutics. The Associate Scientist works closely with purification scientists and analytical teams, using ELISA and related analytical techniques to support method development and transfer activities. Work is primarily performed on-site in a scientific laboratory, following established safety procedures and documentation practices, with regular collaboration, data review, and communication across process development and Quality Control groups.

This is a Contract position based out of Thousand Oaks, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
