Job description

The Associate Dean of the Entry to Baccalaureate Nursing Practice Division provides strategic, academic, and operational leadership for all pre-licensure nursing programs and post-baccalaureate certificate programs. This role ensures program quality, regulatory compliance, faculty excellence, and student success across all campuses.

Academic Leadership
  • Prepare reports and organize accreditation and regulatory visits for the Division.
  • Ensure program goals and objectives align with School of Nursing standards and national expectations.
  • Evaluate student, course, and program outcomes and use data to guide curriculum and faculty development.
  • Facilitate development of comprehensive, coherent curricula that meet national standards.
  • Oversee student schedules and establish course and faculty assignments in collaboration with Assistant Deans.
  • Coordinate and monitor consistent delivery of high quality courses across sites and tracks.
  • Evaluate faculty and staff performance and make recommendations for appointment, reappointment, promotion, merit, tenure, and dismissal.
  • Fulfill the role of a faculty member in teaching, scholarship, and service.
  • Provide recommendations on grade grievances and appeals.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and communications.
Recruitment and Retention
  • Participate in developing, evaluating and monitoring criteria for admission, progression, and retention for students in the Division.
  • Interface with key personnel and organizations to advance the Division.
  • Represent the programs to the public and communicate newsworthy faculty and divisional activities to the Director of Marketing and Communication.
  • Work with Program Directors to identify student recruitment, retention, and advising strategies.
  • Track retention data and identify factors influencing student persistence.
  • Oversee the coordination and recruitment of new fulltime and parttime faculty within the Division, ensuring hiring aligns with program needs, accreditation standards, and strategic priorities.
  • Provide divisional leadership and quality expectations for preceptors and per diem (Lecturer) faculty; operational recruitment, retention, and dayโ€‘toโ€‘day quality control are managed by the Division of Simulation and Clinical Learning (DSCL).
Administrative Leadership
  • Monitor certification pass rates and collaborate with Program Directors on remediation plans.
  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership to manage financial and human resources for the Division.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer to prepare annual budget requests for the Division programs and operate within the approved budget.
  • Submit reports as required and as requested.
  • Work with faculty, School of Nursing Administration and staff to implement strategic plans and assure ongoing quality improvement and integrity of the Division.
  • Facilitate faculty and student communication and participation regarding School of Nursing activities.
  • Chair Division meetings.
  • Serve as exโ€‘officio member on the Division Committee and key committees.
  • Participate in meetings of the Deanโ€™s Leadership Council.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the School of Nursing, University, academic partners, and clinical institutions as appropriate.
  • Understand and adhere to Rutgers University compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the mission of the School of Nursing.
Education and Experience

Doctorate in Nursing (Terminal doctoral degree, DNPa or PhD preferred). Minimum 3 yearsโ€™ experience teaching in nursing. Active nursing professional experience to practice in the State of New Jersey. Prior academic administration and leadership experience.

  • Current licensure or eligibility for RN licensure in New Jersey.
