Job description

JOB SUMMARY 

The Senior Analyst position supports the Insurance team and Risk Management department by transforming large, complex data sets into meaningful insights that enable actional business decisions, strengthen risk mitigation efforts, and improve loss analysis across the organization. This role partners with internal stakeholders across Claims, Finance, Global Safety & Security, and Operations to develop dashboards, reports, and analysis that identify loss trends, measure program performance, and support data-driven action planning. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capability, technical reporting skills, business curiosity, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE  

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

Required 

  • 3+ years of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, insurance, risk management, finance, claims, or a related analytical function. 
  • Bachelor's degree required in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Insurance, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field. 
  • Experience with advanced Microsoft Office, Power BI, and database tools to extract, analyze, and report data from multiple sources including risk management, claims, and finance platforms.  
  • Experience working with large data sets, reconciling data from multiple sources, identifying trends, and preparing actionable reports for business stakeholders. 

Preferred 

  • Experience in hospitality. 
  • Experience developing dashboards, automated reports, and executive summaries. 
  • Hybrid to Marriott International Headquarters. 
  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate or other relevant data analytics, insurance, or risk management credentials. 

 

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES  

  • Design, develop, and maintain data processes, models and recurring reports to support enterprise-wide risk monitoring, insurance program analysis, and management decision-making. 
  • Develop and analyze key metric reports comparing results across properties, brands, regions, programs, and relevant benchmarks to help management evaluate performance, understand causation factors, monitor claim frequency and severity, identify litigation trends, and focus attention on opportunities for risk mitigation. 
  • Build and maintain presentations that communicate analytical findings, business implications, and recommended actions to key stakeholders. 
  • Partner with Insurance leaders to determine loss ratios by line of coverage, evaluate program performance and carrier profitability, calculate Total Cost of Risk (TCOR) to support informed decision-making, renewal strategy, and program evaluation. 
  • Prepare claim escrow estimates and due diligence loss reporting by compiling, validating, and analyzing loss data to support transactions and ownership changes. 
  • Extract, reconcile, validate, and summarize data from systems and other internal or external sources. 
  • Support continuous improvement of risk management tools, reporting processes, and automation opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. 
  • Maintain hotel operating unit and exposure data as needed for openings, terminations, ownership changes, and program updates. 
  • Interface with brokers or other insurance service providers regarding loss statistic reporting and trend analysis, utilizing their research and/or information tools as appropriate. 
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned to support the evolving needs of the Insurance and Risk Management department.
