Job description

Description and Requirements
General Description: Manage up to 5 complex clients with unique needs as the day-to-day contact. Responsible for the management and development of the Service Team.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage a book of highly complex key clients with significant unique needs.
  • Provide proactive, personalized support to assigned clients, including:
    • Negotiating with carriers on behalf of clients
    • Representing client interests in internal strategy meetings
    • Setting up new group insurance contracts
    • Ensuring accurate and timely responses
  • Provide day-to-day management and development of 4 or more employees.
  • Provide oversight and implementation of operational strategic objectives service team.
  • Develop and implement a regularly scheduled training plan for the service team.
  • Provide strong insurance technical expertise to clients and members of the Account Management and Sales team.
  • Lead client meetings regarding renewal and utilization results.
  • Regular client contact and in-person attendance at client meetings.
  • Champion client cross-selling initiatives and develop customer accounts.
  • Technical expert for clients and internal team members on all Compliance topics. Includes, but not limited to, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s and Health Care Reform.
  • Educate, advise and communicate strategy and value to both clients and internal team members on all USI value propositions. Includes, but not limited to, Compliance, Population Health Management, Analytics, Benefit Resource Center, etc.
  • Conduct on-site or virtual meetings to communicate or administer benefit plans.
  • Develop employee communications for changes, enrollment procedures, miscellaneous benefit changes and/or clarifications.
  • Participates in peer review process as both a participant and reviewer of standard and complex deliverables.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • 5+ years of experience in employee benefits industry. College degree preferred.
  • Expert understanding of Employee Benefits.
  • Prior managerial experience preferred.
  • Must hold life and disability insurance license or be willing to obtain within 4 months of hire.
  • Comfortable with internet-based programs and Microsoft Office products.
  • Able to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal instruction.
  • Keep informed about industry information, technology and trends.
  • Able to define problems and generate potential solutions.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Assist, mentor and conduct trainings for fellow team members.
