About the Role

As part of the Strategic Risk Defense ("SRD") Team within Capital One's Canada Card Risk Office, you will be joining a growing team of experienced, collaborative and forward-thinking risk management professionals. In this role, you will work with extended teams across Canada and the Enterprise to support and improve risk management processes.

Specifically, you will be facilitating some of the highest-stake changes in our business as you guide them through regulatory changes and process and new initiative risk assessments. You will partner with: Compliance experts to understand regulatory requirements and their impacts to Capital One Canada; business teams to determine updates to process controls to ensure we continue to deliver experiences aligned with customer and regulator expectations; and Enterprise partners to influence and help roll out iterations of our assessments to drive gains in efficiency while maintaining adherence with policy requirements.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Supports risk assessments to ensure they meet enterprise needs for consistency while meeting our business partners' needs for an approach that addresses their unique processes, products and tech

  • Develops sustainable Risk Processes, which put a premium on the time of business partners by to minimizing their effort while maximizing the value they get

  • Collaborates with second line Risk (e.g. ERM, ORM, Compliance/AML), Audit, Legal, and LOB Risk partners to support assessments and create leading-edge solutions

  • Draws linkages to other business units and leverages a strong knowledge of precedent within assessments

  • Be a trusted risk advisor to executives and senior leaders, all of whom value potentially dissenting opinions and organized, clear, and efficient processes

  • Maintains knowledge of enterprise Standards and ensures risk assessments are designed to and are delivering on those expectations

  • Builds and maintains tools which will enable risk managers, partners and stakeholders to consistently, effectively, and efficiently complete risk assessments within targeted SLAs

  • Translates complex changes in the internal and external environments into impacts for business partners in a clear, simple and concise manner

  • Seeks to improve monitoring within the team and the business by leveraging new and existing data sources and views (i.e. Key Risk Indicators, dashboards, etc.)

  • Inspires business team through communication of risk activity requirements and goals, enabling discretionary risk investments to be made by business teams

Basic Qualifications:

  • Passionate about risk management, problem solving, and making things better!

  • Experience working in a heavily regulated industry in risk management or project management capacity

  • At least 5 year experience working in a cross-functional environment, ensuring stakeholder expectations are managed effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • CPA designation or certification in risk management

  • PMP certification

  • Experience working in risk management and knowledge of industry frameworks (e.g ISO 31000 and/or COSO)

The expected annual salary range for this position is $108,900 to $124,300. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
