About the Role:
This role combines operational execution with strategic enablement, including oversight of external managers, collateral and asset servicing activities, operational risk management, and business analysis for initiatives across Asset Services, Legal, and Compliance.
The position serves as a key liaison across business units and may lead or support PMO activities for department-specific projects, ensuring scalable processes, strong controls, and alignment with organizational priorities.

The Investments Operations Business Analyst II position reports to the 2nd VP, Head of Asset Services  and will be based out of our home office in Topeka, Kansas. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.

  • Work with business users to understand their business processes and information needs
  • Gather and document business requirements, translate needs into workflows and process improvements, support testing, implementation and validation as well as develop use cases and gather requirements for needed projects.
  • Lead or support department projects tracking timelines, risks and deliverables and coordinate across key stakeholders and teams.
  • Support the end to end lifecycle of investments including trade interfaces, repo trading and collateral, pricing, external manager governance, state deposit governance, corporate actions, asset transfers and identify and resolve operational issues and exceptions.
  • Monitor and develop operational risk framework and controls, support audit, compliance and documentation requirements through partnership with risk, legal and compliance teams.
  • Responsible for identifying efficiencies in the reporting process and working with the team to convert recurring reports to the reporting system. Analyst will have exposure to a variety of financial data and work with a variety of asset types
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of standardized procedures for supporting the Legal, Compliance and Asset Services department according to best practices and industry standards
  • Participate in development and changes to areas of responsibility that would enhance, improve or facilitate job performance, process or workflow

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, Business Administration, MIS, Computer Science, or related fields
  • 4-8+ years of experience in Investment Operations or Business Analysis supporting Insurance  industry investment accounting and/or financial reporting experience preferred
  • Strong relationship management skills with a customer first approach, ensuring timely communication, proactive issue resolution, and consistent delivery of accurate and reliable operational outcomes
  • Knowledge of investments, both fixed-income and equity preferred
  • Ability to analyze financial documentation and turn into concise data points, develop procedures and communicate detail in both verbal and written form
  • Advanced experience using spreadsheets and database tools (Excel, MS SQL Server, Oracle)
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines
  • Highly detail oriented – absolute commitment to accuracy is required
  • Achievement oriented – focused on getting work done quickly and efficiently
  • Strong technical/analytical capability with excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with presentation skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks of highly varied nature in a timely manner
  • Strong business acumen, and existing knowledge of financial services industry preferred
