Job Summary:

The Lead RF Amplifier Technician – Service & Test is a SR. hands on technical leader responsible for supporting the daily execution of the Service and Production Test departments. This role serves as the manager’s primary floor leader, coordinating daily activities, prioritizing workload, and ensuring efficient execution of service repairs and production amplifier testing prior to shipment.

This position requires a combination of advanced RF amplifier technical expertise and supervisory level leadership capability. The Lead RF Technician acts as the floor general for Service and Test, resolving complex technical issues, guiding technicians, driving urgency and accountability, and maintaining safety, quality, and schedule performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & RF Expertise

• Serve as the lead technical authority for complex troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of high power RF and microwave amplifiers.

• Perform and guide advanced RF testing and system level diagnostics including gain, output power, efficiency, linearity, stability, and overall amplifier performance.

• Define, review, and support advanced test setups for service evaluation and final production test prior to shipment.

• Verify and approve amplifier performance following complex repairs or upgrades prior to release.

• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, and test procedures to isolate failures and support root cause analysis.

• Partner with Engineering to support corrective actions, design feedback, and product reliability improvements.

Floor Leadership & Day to Day Execution

• Act as the day to day floor leader for the Service and Production Test departments.

• Help prioritize workload, coordinate technician assignments, and support efficient job flow.

• Monitor progress, identify bottlenecks, and escalate issues impacting safety, quality, throughput, or delivery.

• Provide real time technical direction, coaching, and troubleshooting support to technicians.

• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues encountered on the floor.

• Maintain urgency and accountability while reinforcing a disciplined and safe work environment.

Quality, Safety, and Continuous Improvement

• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, ESD controls, workmanship standards, and test requirements.

• Reinforce technical discipline, documentation accuracy, and adherence to standard work.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to service efficiency and test processes.

• Contribute to service procedures, troubleshooting guides, and technical documentation.

• Train and mentor technicians to strengthen RF knowledge and execution consistency.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Extensive hands on experience troubleshooting, testing, and repairing RF power amplifiers.

• Strong proficiency with RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, power meters, network analyzers, and signal generators.

• Ability to interpret complex RF measurements and correlate data to hardware and system behavior.

• Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to guide technicians in a production or service environment.

• Strong understanding of RF amplifier systems, failure isolation, and performance verification.

• Excellent communication skills with technicians, engineers, management, and customers.

• Commitment to safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Desired Qualifications:

• Prior experience as a lead technician, cell lead, or functional floor leader.

• Experience supporting both service/repair and production or final test operations.

• Experience working cross functionally with Engineering on corrective actions.

• Associate degree or technical training in electronics, RF technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
