Position Overview:
Ameresco is offering an associate level position, based in our Boston, MA office. The position will join the Solar PV and Energy Storage team, which develops, installs, and operates large scale renewable generation and energy storage projects throughout the country. Position responsibilities are a mix of recurring responsibilities and individual project-based work. The selected candidate will support the operation of large scale solar and battery energy storage projects and work closely with the analysts, engineers, project development and operations and maintenance staff who create and manage these projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Familiarity with NERC grid reliability standards for Generator Owner and Generator Operator.
  • Follow ongoing changes and additions to the reliability standards.
  • Understand the intersection between the NERC standards and the Generator Owner and Generator Operator roles, and the other functional parties (balancing authority, reliability coordinator, etc.) who may have their own data requirements and systems.
  • Manage Ameresco relationships with compliance consultants.
  • Lead response to RFIs or audits from NERC or submitting registrations and self-certifications in partnership with external consultants.
  • Ensure that O&M field services programs, training and data maintenance align with standards requirements and implement improvements if needed.
  • Partner with O&M field services and engineering to drive the process if there are malfunctions, grid events or other issues that trigger a need for an investigation and remedial action.
  • Advising the development teams on applicability of standards for new projects, specifically what protective equipment, relay settings, and other items should be incorporated into project design and schedule processes and requirements.
  • Manage EIA-860, EIA-923, and FERC EQR submissions and updates.
  • Build a company-wide Culture of Compliance.
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or masters degree in business, economics, energy or engineering fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years working in regulatory or compliance fields, with a preference for experience with NERC requirements associated with large scale energy infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and competing demands.
  • Excellent computer skills including strong proficiency in MS Word and Excel.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, take initiative and develop good working relationships with junior and senior team staff.
  • Strong verbal, written, technical communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with VBA, Python, SQL, or other programming languages.
  • Prior work experience or education in solar, wind, or battery storage technologies.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $77,000 - $111,500 (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role.
Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. This range supports our commitment to pay transparency and compliance with applicable laws. Compensation may vary by work location, including remote arrangements.
