What is an associate recruiter?

Associate Recruiters are entry-level professionals who assist in the recruitment process within organizations or staffing agencies. Their main responsibilities include sourcing candidates, screening resumes, conducting initial interviews, and coordinating with hiring managers. They support senior recruiters and help ensure that the hiring process runs smoothly by managing administrative tasks and maintaining candidate databases. Associate Recruiters play a key role in identifying and attracting top talent to meet an organization's staffing needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an associate recruiter?

To excel as an Associate Recruiter, you need strong interpersonal skills, a basic understanding of talent acquisition processes, and at least a bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), LinkedIn Recruiter, and sourcing platforms is commonly required. Excellent communication, organization, and the ability to build relationships help differentiate top performers in this role. These skills are vital to efficiently attract, assess, and engage qualified candidates, ensuring successful hires for the organization.

Job description

Via is on a mission to create public transportation systems that provide far greater access to jobs, healthcare, and education. Our platform serves as the technology backbone for modern transit networks, transforming antiquated and siloed public transportation systems into smart, data-driven, and efficient digital networks. With hundreds of agency partners around the world, Via is recognized as the leading transportation technology and service provider globally.

As a Recruiter at Via, you will directly shape the future of the company by identifying and championing the talent who will drive Via's success as we launch new transit services across the U.S. You will partner closely with local General Managers and Operations leaders to build the teams on the ground team running and operating best-in-class transit systems.

What You'll Do:

  • Own the full hiring strategy and recruitment process for our Field Operations teams (Field Management, Maintenance Technicians, Dispatchers, and Utility Associates); build scalable, efficient hiring processes for high-volume field roles across the U.S.
  • Develop creative sourcing and outreach strategies for niche markets, working closely with local organizations and communities to drive engagement and interest with local prospective employee population
  • Partner closely with hiring managers to understand their goals and shape a process that leads to the right hire; champion our hiring philosophy and serve as a subject matter expert on all things field recruiting
  • Build and maintain efficient and high-quality candidate pipelines through thoughtful application review, interview coordination, and candidate assessment
  • Run fast, thoughtful, and innovative recruiting processes that give candidates a high-touch interview experience
  • Look for patterns, insights, and opportunities to improve how we hire; analyze pipeline trends and share actionable recommendations with hiring teams

Who You Are:

  • Exceptionally smart, gritty, and resourceful: you thrive in ambiguity and bring creative solutions to traditional problems
  • Minimum of 2+ years of Talent Acquisition with a strong preference for experience with high-volume frontline, hourly, or shift-based recruiting
  • Naturally curious and always learning; you want to understand the why behind decisions and enjoy contributing ideas, not just executing on a problem
  • Steady, optimistic, and solution-oriented in every situation; we are Via's culture carriers and external ambassadors with candidates
  • Energized by complex challenges that require good judgment and thoughtful problem-solving; responsive and comfortable navigating evolving business needs and priorities

Compensation and Benefits

  • Final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, and skills. Salary reflected does not include equity or variable pay, where applicable
  • Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000 / year

There has never been a more exciting time to be on the cutting edge of public mobility. Ready to join the ride?

Via is an equal opportunity employer.
