JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the Associate Project Engineer is to assist and collaborate with internal team members in supporting the development of conceptual and formal designs, preparing cost estimates, drafting parts lists for procurement, and assisting in the creation of proposals for upcoming projects. In this role, the Associate Project Engineer will support awarded projects by assisting primary engineers with scheduling, creating component lists, generating P&ID drawings, and producing the necessary engineering documentation for each project. This individual will be responsible for facilitating communication among internal teams across various departments to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with the defined scope.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with the team to become familiar with the Company's evolving system designs, assisting in the visualization and communication of how the designs meet customer needs, and learning about the documentation and justifications behind design choices
  • Assist in customer interactions to understand project requirements, supporting the development of conceptual designs, cost estimates, and proposals under the guidance of Project Managers
  • Work with the Industrial Controls Division to gain a basic understanding of their products and how they connect with Company solutions, assisting in identifying potential integration points
  • Support awarded projects by assisting internal team members and customers with the execution of project goals, including contributing to project planning, compiling component lists, and assisting in the creation of engineering documents and design criteria
  • Monitor project timelines, including key milestones, and help track project progress while supporting any necessary changes or adjustments to the schedule
  • Communicate regularly with team members and customers on project status, particularly around delays, issues, or changes, and support project deliverables as directed
  • Assist with project budgets by supporting the selection of equipment components that align with budget constraints and Company margin goals
  • Provide support to Project Managers by assisting in technical guidance and ensuring that engineering principles are followed in the development of designs and documentation
  • Participate in post-project evaluations to help identify opportunities for improvement and optimize future project execution.
  • Assist with vendor coordination for parts selection, ensuring alignment with project requirements
  • Contribute to operational documentation, helping create and maintain equipment documentation for use by the team and customers
  • Assist in the creation of P&IDs, following company standards and design principles under the direction of project managers
  • Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and plan
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A passion for customer relations
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk and work on a computer
  • Willingness to travel (~10% of the time)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of reading contract terms & conditions, specification language, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P & IDs), General Arrangement (GA) Drawings and Electrical Schematics
  • Past work experience in Engineering support, design, or similar role
  • Past academic or work experience in industrial water treatment or other technical industry
