LA28

Los Angeles, CA • On-site

Full-time

Posted 13 days ago

Job description

LA28 does not provide relocation assistance for any positions.
If you are based outside the Los Angeles area, we still welcome your application - we value talent from all geographic backgrounds and want to hear from you if you are able to work on-site in LA
Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP), Cultural Olympiad & Stakeholder Events, the Associate will support the Cultural Olympiad Team in the operational planning, project management, and hands-on execution of LA28's signature cultural program.
Held in the lead-up and adjacent to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Cultural Olympiad is a foundational deliverable and a core requirement mandated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), that transforms the host city into a living stage for arts, culture and human creativity alongside the Games. While early Olympic Games featured medal events in sculpture, painting, music, literature and architecture; the model for the Cultural Olympiad programming used today shifts from competitions to community focused arts festivals and public programming. The LA28 Cultural Olympiad will celebrate and uplift the diverse culture of Los Angeles through original programming, partner collaborations and community-led grassroots events in signature disciplines that include Fashion, Film, Food, Performing Arts and Visual Arts. More information can be found HERE.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with extensive project management experience who thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment. The position demands experience in organizing and supporting cultural program delivery, event coordination and tracking community engagement along with strong communication skills and the ability to provide overarching project management support.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Cultural Olympiad Team in translating the program's strategic framework and overarching vision into detailed, actionable project timelines and task lists to ensure flawless execution across all signature disciplines (Fashion, Film, Food, Music, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts)
  • Support in the operational planning, logistical setup, budget reconciliation and active onsite execution of signature Cultural Olympiad events, public programs, and activations leading up to and during the 2028 Games, including
  • 25+ large-scale community engagement activations and events
  • Collaborations with brand partners and licensees on local artist integration and engagement for cultural programming deliverables
  • Management of external community partner relationships for the delivery of key Cultural Olympiad initiatives and activations
  • Manage essential operational and project management duties for the department, including
  • Coordination for key team meetings and tracking of external cultural engagement
  • Operational management of meetings and speaking opportunities, documentation of follow-up actions with community stakeholders and weekly project update report compilations
  • Management of legal agreements, procurement documents, and financial paperwork (contracts, invoices, expense tracking) required for Cultural Olympiad projects, vendor agreements and programming partners
  • Track key milestone deadlines set by the IOC and LA28 leadership, proactively flagging upcoming deliverables for the broader team
  • Supporting the Sr. Associate with day-to-day project management tasks and assist in managing interns or Athlete Fellows, as needed
  • Maintain databases of cultural stakeholder institutions, community organizations, and artist networks to track historical and ongoing engagement
  • Serve as the Cultural Team liaison to actively inform and integrate other LA28 Functional Areas into key Games-time cultural programming and activations involving operations, logistics, security, marketing, venues and other delivery components

Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 3+ years experience in cultural programming, event coordination, arts administration, community engagement, or a related field with heavy project management and program delivery duties
  • Proven capability as an outcome-focused, highly disciplined, and adaptable team player who excels in rapid-scale, evolving environments
  • Exceptionally organized with the ability to manage multiple overlapping project tracks simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting professional summaries, briefings, or stakeholder correspondence

Expectations & Preferred Attributes
  • Advanced command of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required
  • Strong PowerPoint presentation deck-building and design skills are highly preferred for stakeholder and executive briefings
  • Familiarity with modern project management software (e.g., Smartsheet, Asana, Monday.com) and digital meeting notes documentation tools is beneficial
  • Direct experience working within or collaborating alongside the diverse Los Angeles cultural ecosystem (e.g., local cultural institutions, creative non-profits, municipal arts agencies, or performance venues) is highly valued
  • Experience or involvement with launching, maintaining, or managing digital cultural platforms, interactive web spaces, or mobile applications is a strong plus

Education, Training & Credentials
  • Bachelor's degree preferred. A verifiable track record of equivalent, high-impact work experience and demonstration of professional achievement in arts administration or project management may be considered in lieu of specific formal degree pathways.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office

  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods
  • Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games
  • Travel to volunteer events, activations, and operational locations across Los Angeles as required
