Job description

Senior Associate, Project Manager - CFI&I Strategic Events & Convenings

Capital One, a Fortune 500 company and one of the nation's top 10 banks, offers a broad spectrum of financial products and services to consumers, small businesses and commercial clients. Our mission is to create one of the nation's great banks, and we have the necessary ingredients: a strong balance sheet, resilient businesses, a massive customer franchise, strong analytical capabilities, and great people. We nurture a work environment where people with a variety of thoughts, ideas and backgrounds, guided by our shared Values, come together to make Capital One a great company - and a great place to work.

Global Enterprise Affairs (GEA) works to change banking for good through the collective efforts of seven teams and key partnerships across the enterprise. We engage internal and external stakeholders to help build a more inclusive society, strengthen communities, and create financial tools that enrich lives. Our teams include Global Enterprise Communications, Community Finance, Impact and Investment (CFI&I), CRA Strategy and Program Management, the Global Policy Affairs Group (GPAG), Regulatory Relations, and Strategy & Enablement. Through our teams, we have unparalleled access to a diverse group of motivated changemakers similarly focused on the ingredients for a more perfect future.

The Opportunity and Role:

CFI&I is driving a multi-year transformation to increasingly align business strategy with profound social and economic impact. By uniting the distinct strengths of our Community Finance team (specializing in affordable housing, CDFI loans, and complex capital investments) and our Community Impact & Investment team (focused on enterprise volunteerism, market research, grantmaking, and LOB advisory), CFI&I deploys a holistic, data-driven approach to community advancement and financial inclusion.

We are seeking a Senior Associate, Project Manager - CFI&I Strategic Events & Convenings to join our team.

This is a role for an intentional, rigorous project manager and experienced events producer who seamlessly balances meticulous detail with the broader strategic picture. You will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of multiple high-stakes engagements and large-scale strategic events simultaneously. These convenings provide best-in-class experiences for senior executives and key external stakeholders, building Capital One's reputation in the external environment while advancing critical business priorities. The ideal candidate will bring a background in project management, Customer Experience (CX), and/or large-scale event planning, alongside the unique ability to build consensus quickly and actively shape and influence intent and strategy across highly matrixed teams.

In this role, you'll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in these primary responsibilities:

  • Lead full-lifecycle planning, intent design, logistics, site selection, venue management, and execution of CFI&I's strategic events, summit convenings, and executive roundtables.

  • Oversee detailed event budgets, cost forecasting, vendor contract negotiations (AV, catering, venues, production agencies), and procurement processes to maximize ROI and operational efficiency.

  • Oversee live on-site execution and partnership with vendors.

  • Shape and influence event intent and strategy by translating complex enterprise and local team goals into actionable, premium event concepts.

  • Build consensus quickly across a matrixed environment, partnering closely with CF and CI&I leaders, internal corporate teams, senior executives, vendors, and external partners.

  • Deliver a best-in-class customer experience by integrating hospitality best practices, seamless guest journeys, and premium touchpoints into every convening when appropriate.

  • Create repeatable frameworks, templates, and playbooks to scale and mature the centralized events management function.

  • Provide real-time strategic counsel and status updates to stakeholders and senior leaders to navigate evolving business needs.

  • Orchestrate cross-functional collaboration between Community Finance, Community Impact & Investment, GPAG, GEC, LOBs, and external partners.

  • Measure and report on event impact by tracking KPIs and producing high-quality, executive-ready decks and briefings.

  • Work seamlessly as part of a collaborative team, proactively rolling up your sleeves to solve complex problems and automate workflows.

We want you if you are:

  • Impact-Driven. You dream big. You desire to make the world a better place, and you get energy from working with others with similar passions to accomplish big, bold goals.

  • Mission-Forward. Passion for community development, affordable housing, and social impact within commercial finance.

  • Wired for Collaboration and Connection. You thrive in a matrixed organization because you know that together we can do better. You're obsessed with building and cultivating relationships. You have a proven track record of building solutions co-delivered across teams

  • Customer Focused. You care about doing what's best for the community and for Capital One associates. You don't shy away from hard conversations or nuanced decision making because you know the best outcomes often go hand in hand with tough decisions. For the sake of the associate experience, you are comfortable holding your partners and your own team accountable for results.

  • Process Oriented. You loathe inefficient processes and look for ways to streamline and document everything you touch. You enjoy creating new processes when it is needed.

  • Enablement is your middle name. You are passionate about building tools that enable others, because you get energized by seeing those around you enabled to do their best work.

  • Do-er. You're biased toward action, you try things and sometimes you fail. You can get around your own roadblocks and you remove obstacles for your team to stay focused on enterprise goals.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification

  • At least 3 years of experience in project management, process management, project delivery, or any combination of the three

  • At least 3 years of experience in event management or logistics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 4 years experience managing end-to-end corporate events, summits, or strategic convenings

  • At least 2 years of experience collaborating with stakeholders on multiple teams

  • At least 2 years of experience communicating with executive stakeholders

  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Lean, Agile, or Six Sigma certification

  • Experience in market research and analyses

  • Experience with complex stakeholder management

  • Experience in financial services

  • Experience in sales or other domains deeply dependent on the quality of relationship management
