Compensation Range: 91,600-114,500 plus sip bonus 

Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.  

Job Purpose

Leads the Communications, Data & Industrial business lines through design services and project estimating for construction and major improvements to critical infrastructure elements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement design engineering and estimating processes and work management structures that are repeatable, scalable, and support positive client outcomes.
    • Ensure Estimators use best practices, standards, and procedures to determine the cost of a service or product.
  • Manage, coach, and develop estimating resources to ensure tracking and delivery of project estimates in an accurate and consistent manner.
  • Develop and implement strategic pricing methodology in collaboration with Service Operations and Sales leadership.
  • Develop, implement, manage & maintain estimating tools
  • Collaborate with internal resources to ensure the most current cost structure is maintained.
  • Develop and maintain cost history on all project scopes.
  • Advise and assist in identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies for project bids.
  • Lead creation of detailed installation specifications that meet client standards and requirements.
  • Is a Subject Matter Expert on client playbooks.
  • Develop procedure to ensure only the current versions of client playbooks and requirements are referenced.
  • Analyze standards, construction drawings, project plans, and site survey data to gain a thorough understanding of projects.
  • Review Project bids and estimates accuracy and cost discrepancies.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and/or tour job sites to confirm necessary take-offs.
  • Interface with clients on bid-walks and via conference calls.
  • Present technical and complex information in a simplified manner to different stakeholders.
  • Drive a positive work environment by providing leadership, direction, mentorship and motivation to team members.
  • Grow, develop, and lead a winning team through effective performance management, hiring, training, and retention.
  • All other duties as assigned by manager.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work/military experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in a Project Management, Estimating, Electrical Design & Construction Program Management
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership position.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in DC Power and infrastructure Engineering experience in a Telco Carrier Central Office or equivalent Broadband Headend or Hub environment.
  • Three years' experience in Customer relationship management preferred.
  • Experience understanding system requirements and interfaces, defining system architecture, and working with customers to create, clarify, and review requirements.
  • Strong Project Estimating Background

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven ability to proactively prioritize, plan, schedule, and coordinate.
  • Ability to problem-solve complex situations.
  • Excellent MS office skills, specifically with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing best practices & processes for construction project cost estimating.
  • Previous experience creating installation specifications.
  • Experience developing and reviewing detailed Scopes of Work and installation procedures.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Systems, HVAC, Central Plant, Transformer Voltage Substation, Power Distribution Layout, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Systems), emergency/standby generation and UPS systems, electrical heat tracing, interconnecting wiring, batteries, PDUs, transfer switches, chargers, other power quality instruments and grounding
  • Must have knowledge of building load calculations, refrigeration cycle and thermodynamics, heat transfer, and instrumentation.
  • Solid understanding of industry best practices for a variety of data center design elements (facility design, room ready requirements, pre-occupancy requirements) and environmental support infrastructure requirements (architectural, electrical)
