Hoyle Tanner's Aviation Services department is seeking a Project Engineer who enjoys the technical aspect of aviation engineering. You will be designing small, medium-sized, and large airports in the New England region as well as Florida. You will also be able to share your knowledge base and coach entry-level engineers. There will be opportunities to do presentations and lead meetings with clients and contractors setting you up for a career path of Senior Project Engineer or Senior Project Manager.

Location: Chelmsford, MA
A short 27 miles from Boston, our office is centrally located just south of the confluence of US Route 3, Route 495, and the Lowell Connector, with a stop along the MBTA's Lowell bus route 15, and a short drive from the Lowell and Billerica commuter rail stops. This office is located along the developing Route 129 corridor in Chelmsford.
Job responsibilities:
  • Have a primary role in an integrated, multi-discipline team that solves technical challenges on projects of significant scope, size and difficulty
  • Complete assignments accurately and on time with limited direction from the Project Manager
  • Develop an understanding of project budget, scope of services, project development and project schedule
  • Provide updates and recommendations to the Project Manager in maintaining schedule and budget
  • Understand the client's organization, key people and expectations
  • Share best practices to improve performance and efficiency of self and team
  • Develop person-hour estimates and budgets with guidance from senior staff
  • Lead small team for moderately complex projects
  • Assist in proposal efforts and development
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and feedback to develop entry-level and Staff Engineers, peers and others as needed
  • Conduct site visits and participate in or lead meetings with clients/ contractors
  • Demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills for deliverables, proposals and presentations in a public setting (for clients and/or at seminars and conferences)

Requirements
Qualified Candidates will have:
  • BSCE or ME
  • 4-10 years of relevant experience
  • Current PE in NH, MA or VT
  • Strong skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology/hydraulics preferred
  • Salary is contingent on experience
