Job description

Principal Associate, Project Manager

As a Principal Project Manager at Capital One, you can achieve results you never thought possible by leading critical and strategic business projects. In this exciting role you will work closely with key stakeholders to deliver results that will have a direct impact on the bottom line of the company. You will work with smart, talented people who will challenge you to excel. You will be rewarded for your passion and your achievements.

As a member of the International Talent Expansion (ITE) team, you will sit on the International Demand and Workforce Planning Team and orchestrate strategic and tactical operations of the ITE leadership team to support our global tech and product talent expansion strategy.

Capital One is seeking a Principal Associate to join our International Tech & Product Strategic Workforce Planning team. In this role, you will act as the primary coordinator and storyteller for our international talent strategy. You aren't just managing data; you are ensuring that our workforce plans are accurate, integrated, and clearly communicated to leadership. You will play a vital role in our International Talent Expansion, ensuring our global growth projects stay on track and our executive narratives are backed by rock-solid insights.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized project manager who excels at synthesizing information from multiple sources and translating complex updates into polished, executive-ready presentations.

Major Responsibilities
  • International Growth Coordination: Act as the project lead for international workforce expansion workstreams. You will track progress against global hiring milestones, identify potential risks to our footprint strategy, and ensure all workstream leads are aligned on our global scaling goals.

  • Data Synthesis & Reporting: Serve as the "custodian of the truth" for Tech and Product headcount. You will aggregate data from HR, Finance, and Recruiting to produce monthly and quarterly reports, ensuring that any discrepancies are resolved and that leadership has a clear view of our current and future talent state.

  • Executive Storytelling: Transform raw workforce data into compelling narratives. You will be responsible for designing and drafting high-visibility presentations for senior leadership, highlighting key trends, successes, and areas requiring executive intervention.

  • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Manage the "connective tissue" between HR, Finance, and Real Estate. You will lead the project meetings and communication loops necessary to ensure that our hiring plans are supported by sufficient recruiting capacity and office space.

  • Strategic Insights & Synthesis: Look across various data sets to find the "so what." Rather than just reporting numbers, you will synthesize qualitative and quantitative feedback to provide leadership with a holistic view of organizational health and geographic distribution.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience

  • At least 3 Years of Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree or MBA Degree

  • 2+ years of experience managing international vendors or suppliers in software engineering

  • Demonstrated experience in risk management, especially in technical contexts

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills

  • Work experience achieving results with complex projects
