Sterling Engineering is partnered with a growing manufacturing organization seeking a Project Engineer to support customer-driven engineering projects from concept through production. This role will work directly with customers to understand technical requirements, provide engineering support, coordinate project execution, and ensure successful delivery of custom manufacturing solutions. The position is highly collaborative and will partner closely with internal engineering, manufacturing, quality, and leadership teams.
The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background combined with customer-facing experience in a manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys both the technical and relationship-management sides of engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers throughout project lifecycles
  • Work directly with customers to review specifications, discuss project requirements, and provide engineering support
  • Support custom manufacturing projects from initial concept through production launch
  • Coordinate project timelines, engineering activities, and cross-functional communication
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to support successful project execution
  • Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and identifying practical engineering solutions

Qualifications:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience in an Applications Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Project Engineer, or customer-facing engineering role
  • Experience working directly with customers on technical projects and product requirements
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering fundamentals
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency with engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Experience supporting custom products or engineered-to-order manufacturing environments is a plus
