Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
  • Inspects yard and warehouse facilities and equipment and implements necessary changes in allocation of space, and loading / unloading procedures.
  • Participates in the purchase of material handling equipment such as dollies, trucks, and trailers.
  • Plans, organizes and implements training and education for all yard personnel
  • Monitor's delivery processes to insure proper procedures are in place and followed to ensure high levels of customer service and protection of company assets.
  • Ensures the yard and material storage sheds are maintained in an orderly and clean manner
  • Coordinates all the safety activities in the yard including: safety committees, safety training, accident investigation and follow-up.
  • Answers inquiries on types of service offered, rates, schedules, and areas serviced.
  • Investigates customers' complaints involving such matters as damaged items, overcharges, and delay in deliveries, and works with store manager to make necessary adjustments.
  • Supervises Yard/ Customer Service, "inventory coordinator" and Dispatch and assigns daily activities.
  • Maintains the yard in neat, orderly and organized fashion to enhance efficiency and provide a safe working environment for employees and customers.
  • Examines items to be moved, to ascertain approximate weights and type of loading required.
  • Confers with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed merchandise and/or deliveries.
  • Maintains record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made and other expenses related to the operation of the yard and delivery fleet.
  • Supervises inside sales team developing work schedules and ensuring proper adherence to procedures and addressing issues as they relates to customer service in the store.
  • Works with "inventory coordinator" (yard manager) to address issues relating to inventory control, address weaknesses and develop plans for improvement.
  • Monitor staffing needs. Make recommendations to store manager for additions/reductions/re-assignment and participate in the hiring process for applicable new employees.
  • Perform performance appraisals with applicable employees.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Store Manager or Senior Management
