Job description

The GME Program Coordinator Team Lead, is a senior-level GME Program Coordinator who, in addition to managing their assigned
residency or fellowship program(s), leads the training and onboarding of new coordinators across the department. This role ensures
consistency in processes, fosters team development, and supports cross-coverage planning to maintain program continuity. The Team Lead
is responsible for day-to-day operations of a small group of team members who do similar tasks.

Essential Job Statements

  • Provide full administrative support for assigned GME program(s), ensuring compliance with VCU Health and ACGME standards.
  • Lead onboarding and training for new coordinators, including development of training plans and materials.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource during the transition period for new staff.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify training needs and implement improvements.
  • Facilitate cross-training to ensure seamless coverage across programs.
  • Maintain documentation and workflows to support standardized practices.
  • Participate in committees or initiatives focused on improving GME operations.
  • Coordinate weekly coordinator meetings to ensure their assigned team is on target to achieve all deadlines set by GME and ACGME.
  • Monitor team's performance on program related tasks and ensure team has the support to maintain compliance with deadlines and
  • program's needs.
  • Keep the Associate Administrator aware of any areas of concerns for all members of their team and their programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and/or participates in special projects to support the mission of VCUHS and the Department. Provides assistance to team members. Accepts alternate assignments, as required.

Employment Qualifications

  • Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree, Certifications and/or registrations in functional area

Licensing/ Certification

  • Licensure/Certification Required: N/A
  • Licensure/Certification Preferred: TAGME Certification Preferred

Minimum Qualifications

  • Years and Type of Required Experience: 3+ years related experience with GME program coordination or a related field

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Demonstrated success in cross-program collaboration and coverage.
  • Strong Understanding of ACGME and Institutional Accreditation standards.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and train others.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GME-specific software (e.g., New Innovations).

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience developing training materials or leading onboarding initiatives.
  • Prior supervisory experience, Healthcare experience
  • Combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Working Conditions: Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. General office environment. May have periods of constant
  • interruptions.
