Job description

SUMMARY
Primary responsibilities include teaching and participation in all aspects of curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. The PA Medicine faculty will teach and mentor students throughout the didactic and clinical curriculum. Responsibilities also include scholarly activity, advising students, serving on school, university, state, regional, and national committees. Other duties as assigned.
Teaching
  • Participates in development of PA Medicine mission statement review/ revision, PA Medicine competencies review/ revision, and PA Medicine goals review/revision.
  • Responsible for and actively participate in processes of curriculum design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation.
  • Participation in student performance evaluation in both the didactic and clinical phase.
  • Some teaching assignments may exist in a course where the faculty member is not a primary instructor (e.g. labs, OSCEs, clinical year curriculum).
  • Student academic counseling.
  • Student teaching and instruction throughout the program.
  • Responsible for understanding and consistently applying all policies applicable to PA Medicine students published by Palm Beach Atlantic University and PA Medicine.
  • Does not participate as a health care provider for students in the program, except in an emergency.
  • Participation in remedial instruction.
Service
  • Participate in PA Medicine, School and University committees.
  • Participate in local, state and national professional organizations to ensure program excellence and appropriateness of curriculum and instruction.
  • Develop and evaluate student performance in both the didactic and clinical phase.
  • Participation in accreditation activities.
  • Participate in student recruitment and applicant selection for admissions.
  • Participates in clinical site development.
  • Participation in PA Medicine evaluation.
Scholarship
  • Participate in student and faculty research as it pertains to PA Medicine, PAs and Health Sciences.
  • Identify sources for and participate in the preparation and implementation of grants and contacts supportive of PA Medicine's activities.

EDUCATION:
Master's level PA, Doctoral preferred. MD, DO and Pharm.D. degrees also meet requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3+ years of clinical experience, required, along with demonstrated expertise in the discipline.
  • Prior collegiate-level teaching experience, preferred.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence and service to the college, university, and community.
  • Demonstrated Christian commitment and the ability to integrate faith into coursework.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are an essential element of the position.
