Assistant or Associate Professor - Research in Patient Services (tenure track)

Salary: - Commensurate with training and experience

COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS:

Department of Patient Services Clinical Divisions (Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational and Physical Therapy, Nursing, Clinical Pharmacy, Child Life Specialists)

o Perinatal Institute

o Division of Child Psychiatry

o Division of Neurology

o Division of Otolaryngology

o Division of Development and Behavioral Pediatrics

o Division of Pulmonary Medicine

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To propel current knowledge and expand scientific discovery in the areas of communication sciences, hearing, speech, language, and/or literacy to impact the lives of children and families.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

o Research, Teaching and/or Training.

o Lead innovative translational research in communication sciences, hearing, speech, language, and/or reading literacy independently and collaboratively.

o Lead/participate in the integration and growth of new and existing research programs.

o Initiate and coordinate well-designed research studies that have the potential for external funding.

o Secure funding to support independent research programs through intramural and extramural grants.

o Ensure that all research functions operate at the highest level of quality, while maintaining fiscal soundness.

o Participate in training and mentoring of undergraduate students, graduate students, post-doctoral and research fellows, medical students, residents, and clinical researchers on pilot studies, dissertation and capstone projects, evidence-based practice projects, and quality improvement projects.

o Participate in invited lectures at conferences, workshops, faculty development programs, and professional society programs.

o Service and/or Administration.

o Contribute to the mission of Cincinnati Children’s Departments of Pediatrics and Patient Services Research.

o Participate in local (divisional, departmental, hospital, university), regional or national committees, such as research committees, strategic planning committees, and search committees.

o Participate in activities to plan, implement and improve research and/or clinical activities in the Departments of Pediatrics and Patient Services.

o Enhance professional knowledge by attending seminars and professional meetings at the local, national, and international level.

o Scholarly Activities

o Develop and lead research programs.

o Secure internal and external funding to support independent research programs.

o Disseminate scientific discoveries through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, editorials, book chapters and interviews.

o Serve as a reviewer and/or editorial board member for high quality journals.

o Serve on local, regional, and/or national grant review committees.

Qualifications:

Qualifications/ Requirements for an Assistant Professor – Research

o PhD degree in related discipline of Communication Sciences, Audiology, Speech Language Pathology, or related field.

o Analytical (quantitative/qualitative) skills in related field.

o Experience with disseminating research findings through conference presentations and/or peer-reviewed publications.

o Assistant Professor appointment or eligibility required.

o Minimum of five years of related experience in research.

o Candidates with demonstrated ability to conduct research in communication sciences, hearing, speech, and/or language research.

o Experience in grant writing.
