Job Description

The Production Planner plays an important role in supporting production scheduling and work order planning to ensure manufacturing activities align with customer demand and business priorities. This position is ideal for someone looking to build a foundation in production planning, develop ERP system expertise, and gain a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material flow, and scheduling practices.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining daily and weekly production schedules under the guidance of senior planning team members.
  • Create, release, and track work orders within the ERP system to support production requirements.
  • Update and maintain work order status information, including work-in-process (WIP), rework activity, and MRB transactions.
  • Review system-generated planning recommendations such as schedule changes, order rescheduling, cancellations, and demand updates.
  • Help identify material shortages and partner with Purchasing and Operations to support timely resolution.
  • Monitor production schedule performance and communicate potential risks that may impact delivery commitments.
  • Learn and apply capacity planning concepts to help balance workloads across production areas.
  • Support inventory management activities, including monitoring excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives designed to strengthen planning processes and scheduling accuracy.
  • Develop proficiency with ERP systems and planning tools to build toward independent scheduling responsibility.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

  •  A minimum of 1- 2 years  of experience in production planning, scheduling, manufacturing, supply chain, or a related environment preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, bills of material (BOMs), and inventory transactions.
  • Experience or exposure to ERP/MRP systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

Hiring Range: $70,606 - $92,103 annually. Actual starting pay will be based on factors such as experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
