You can find associate product manager jobs in nearly every industry. Associate product managers help with the development and marketing of products in collaboration with senior product managers. As an associate product manager, your job duties are to conduct market research, generate product plans, and check for product issues. You need excellent teamwork and communication skills to succeed in a career as an associate product manager. Other qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, management, or a related field and previous experience in your industry.
| Aspect | Associate Product Manager | Product Manager |
|---|---|---|
| Responsibilities | Supports product development, conducts research, assists in feature prioritization | Owns product lifecycle, defines strategy, makes key decisions |
| Experience & Credentials | Entry-level or 1-2 years experience, often a bachelor's degree | 3+ years experience, strong understanding of product management principles |
| Work Environment | Collaborative, closely supervised, learning-focused | Leadership role, strategic planning, cross-functional coordination |
The main difference is that Associate Product Managers are typically entry-level team members supporting product initiatives, while Product Managers take ownership of the product strategy and decision-making. The Associate role is ideal for gaining experience, whereas the Product Manager role involves leading product development and setting vision.

Granicus is seeking a selfstarting AI Product Manager to help build and scale internal AI capabilities that power our Revenue Operations function. No company in the world reaches more people on behalf of public sector organizations than Granicus-and this role will focus on developing the AI products, platforms, and workflows that enable our revenue teams to operate smarter, faster, and with greater confidence.
You are a creative, datadriven problem solver who can assess complex RevOps, Sales, and GotoMarket needs and translate them into practical, scalable AIdriven solutions. You will work in a highly dynamic environment where rapid learning, experimentation, and measurable impact are expected.
Partnering closely with RevOps leaders, Product Managers, Engineers, Data Analysts, and crossfunctional stakeholders, you will define and prioritize the RevOps AI roadmap, align teams around the highestvalue initiatives, and drive outcomes such as productivity gains, forecast accuracy, deal quality, process automation, and improved seller experience.
The ideal candidate is curious, collaborative, and comfortable operating at the intersection of business operations, data, and AI. You excel at combining qualitative insight with quantitative analysis to make informed tradeoffs and continuously improve how revenue teams leverage AI in their daily work.
Define and execute actionable plans to improve the health, usability, and effectiveness of internal AI products supporting Revenue Operations, including sales execution, forecasting, deal governance, proposals, and enablement workflows.
Own prioritization of AI capabilities, enhancements, and experiments-setting clear scope, sequencing, and delivery timelines aligned to RevOps objectives and capacity.
Leverage datadriven insight to determine what to build, when to deliver, and how to rightsize AI solutions, balancing business value, data readiness, and technical complexity.
Communicate priorities, tradeoffs, and progress clearly to RevOps and senior leadership, ensuring alignment on outcomes, risks, and expected value.
Apply a strong product and userexperience mindset to internal AI tools, ensuring solutions drive high adoption, trust, quality, and productivity across revenue teams.
Develop deep subjectmatter expertise in targeted RevOps domains (e.g., forecasting, deal inspection, RFPs, proposals, sales workflows) through stakeholder discovery, workflow analysis, usage data, and performance outcomes.
Build alignment and momentum with engineers, data teams, product leaders, and RevOps stakeholders to move prioritized AI initiatives from concept through production and sustained use.
Define, track, and report the metrics that determine success of AI initiatives, including adoption, accuracy, time saved, process efficiency, deal quality, and revenue impact.
Monitor postrelease performance of AI services and enhancements, assessing usage, effectiveness, and downstream business impact, and iterate based on findings.
Act as the internal voice of RevOps users by continuously incorporating feedback from Sales, Enablement, Proposal, and Operations teams into roadmap decisions and solution improvements.
A BA/BS in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field-or equivalent experience delivering AIenabled or datadriven products in an operational environment.
A passion for building highquality internal AI products and platforms in fastmoving, ambiguous environments where priorities, inputs, and constraints evolve rapidly.
Handson experience working with or alongside AI/ML systems, such as predictive models, recommendation engines, NLP/LLMbased solutions, workflow automation, or AI agents-focused on applied business impact rather than pure research.
Familiarity with modern AI product concepts, including model limitations, data quality and labeling, prompt design, evaluation metrics, humanintheloop workflows, and responsible AI considerations.
Working knowledge of agile product development practices (Scrum, Lean), with an emphasis on iterative delivery, experimentation, and continuous learning-especially in AIdriven environments.
Strong intellectual curiosity that drives you to ask sharp questions, pressuretest assumptions, and use data to identify and prioritize the highestimpact RevOps opportunities for AI.
Excellent organizational and quantitative analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex workflows, data signals, and AI outputs into clear product direction and actionable plans.
Sufficient technical depth to collaborate effectively with engineers and data teams, understand tradeoffs between model performance, cost, latency, and scalability, and earn trust through informed decisionmaking.
The ability to break down complex AI initiatives into manageable, wellsequenced increments that deliver user and business value quickly and safely.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for technical teams, RevOps stakeholders, and senior leaders-clearly explaining value, risk, limitations, and expected outcomes of AI solutions.
Don't have all the skills/experience mentioned above? At Granicus, we are trying to build diverse, inclusive teams. We do not have degree requirements for most of our roles. If you don't meet every requirement above but are excited to learn more, we encourage you to apply. We might just be able to find another role that could be a perfect fit!
