Job description

Senior Medical Equipment Planner 2 | San Diego, CA

IMEG is hiring a Senior Medical Equipment Planner in San Diego, CA, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead medical equipment planner for highly complex projects with limited support from senior staff. In this role, you will work closely with the project team to provide project direction, medical equipment planning solutions, and client guidance that drive positive outcomes. You'll also oversee project management, medical equipment analysis, design and implementation, project fee and owner budget performance, mentoring efforts, and cross-functional collaboration.

Principal Responsibilities

Lead and manage medical equipment planning projects of varying size and complexity
Interface with users to assess equipment needs and confirm equipment locations through phone, email, virtual, and in-person meetings
Support proposal development by assisting with scopes of work, fee calculations, and contract reviews
Build, maintain, and grow client relationships while serving as a primary point of contact for teams and clients
Manage monthly billings, financial updates, billing projections, and estimated completion percentages for active projects
Ensure design work aligns with owner requirements, IMEG standards, and required quality control processes
Coordinate project schedules across design and construction phases, lead progress meetings, and document outcomes
Conduct equipment assessments and inventories, evaluate reuse potential, and document equipment for the MEQ database
Arrange site visits and product demonstrations to support equipment evaluations and planning decisions
Develop preliminary medical equipment cost estimates and prepare specifications, vendor analyses, and bid recommendation documents
Guide users through equipment decision-making, respond to client and construction concerns, and manage change orders through approval
Participate in industry conferences to build relationships, identify leads, and share relevant insights with the Medical Equipment Planning team

Required Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor Degree in Clinical Engineering, Bio-Medical Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, or equivalent required
12 years of experience minimum required, 14 preferred, in the medical equipment consulting industry
OR
Associate degree, or certificate, in Clinical Engineering, Bio-Medical Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Engineering is preferred
Building Information Modeling (Building Information Model) experience required
Demonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career path
Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in Medical Equipment Planning
Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel up to 60% with overnight stays
