Position Overview

We are seeking a Production Planner to join our Logistics & Planning team at our Lewiston, Maine facility.

Reporting to the Director of Planning, the Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that align customer demand with manufacturing capacity, material availability, and operational priorities. This position manages the flow of work-in-process and finished products to help ensure customer commitments and production objectives are achieved.


The Production Planner will work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales, and Finance to identify potential schedule constraints, resolve material or capacity issues, and continuously improve manufacturing performance.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain production schedules for make-to-stock and make-to-order products using ERP/MRP systems 
  • Evaluate customer demand, production capacity, material availability, and labor requirements to establish manufacturing priorities 
  • Create, release, and manage production work orders while monitoring progress against established schedules 
  • Identify schedule risks, material shortages, capacity constraints, and production backlogs and develop recovery plans as needed 
  • Maintain accurate ERP/MRP data, including inventory balances, bills of material, routings, and product master information 
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Commercial teams to resolve scheduling issues and support on-time delivery 
  • Analyze production and inventory data to identify opportunities to improve workflow, reduce lead times, and optimize resource utilization 
  • Support continuous improvement of factory planning processes, production reporting, and manufacturing performance

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Materials Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered 
  • 2+ years of production planning, scheduling, buying/planning, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment preferred 
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, including extracting, analyzing, and maintaining system data 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with experience analyzing and manipulating production data 
  • Understanding of manufacturing principles, capacity planning, inventory management, and production scheduling 
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Theory of Constraints is a plus 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multiple departments and levels of the organization 
  • APICS certification or similar supply chain certification preferred
