Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Marketing & Communications Coordinator is a creative storyteller who helps bring the life of St. John's Prep to our many audiences through compelling written, visual, and digital content. As a member of the School's in-house marketing and communications team, this position partners with colleagues across campus to produce content that supports enrollment, advancement, school life, and institutional communications.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer, organized project manager, and collaborative team member who enjoys telling stories, building relationships across campus, and working in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time position reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing & Communications.
  • Write, edit, and proofread communications for internal and external audiences, including news stories, website content, email communications, brochures, advertisements, event promotions, and other marketing materials for prospective families, current families, alumni, faculty, staff, donors, and friends of the School.
  • Maintain and update content across the School's website, ensuring information is accurate, timely, and aligned with institutional brand standards.
  • Photograph campus life, academic programs, athletic competitions, and special events while helping maintain the department's photo library and digital asset archive.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications to develop content for the School's social media channels by identifying story opportunities and creating written and visual assets.
  • Assist with the production of the School magazine, admissions publications, campaign materials, and other institutional publications.
  • Coordinate content requests and marketing projects across departments while helping manage production timelines and project workflows.
  • Assist with occasional evening and weekend coverage of major School events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English, public relations, or a related field.
  • One or more years of relevant professional experience, including internships, student media, or professional communications experience.
  • Outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to adapt writing style for different audiences.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Photography experience and familiarity with photo editing software preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted content creation tools and a willingness to thoughtfully incorporate emerging technologies into marketing and communications workflows.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to support School events.

Physical Requirements:
  • Standing/sitting for long periods of time.
  • Bending, lifting, pushing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, stooping.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach at and above shoulder height to access higher areas of equipment, etc.
  • Must be capable of adapting to frequent changes in position throughout the workday.
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
  • Use of hands and fingers for manipulation, and using computer keyboard, educational tools, play equipment, and perform first aid and CPR.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
