Job description

Albany Medical Center | Albany Med Health System

The Department of Pediatrics at Albany Medical Center is seeking a full-time Pediatric Infectious Disease Physician to join the faculty of The Bernard & Millie Duker Children's Hospital, the only children's hospital in northeastern New York and home to Albany Medical College.

About the Role

We are recruiting a board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Infectious Disease physician to join our established academic division. Qualified candidates must have successfully completed an accredited Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship program and will be eligible for appointment at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease

  • 3 Pediatric Infectious Disease faculty members

  • Established inpatient consultation service

  • Outpatient Infectious Disease and HIV/PrEP clinical services

  • Shared inpatient consultation coverage and home call responsibilities

  • Strong collaboration with pediatric subspecialists across the Children's Hospital

  • Faculty appointment through Albany Medical College

Clinical & Academic Environment

Albany Med offers a robust and growing Pediatric Infectious Disease program with opportunities to participate in and expand several established initiatives, including:

  • Fully funded HIV Center for Young Adults (CYA) program supported by the New York State Department of Health

  • Collaboration with Albany Med's state- and federally-funded adult HIV treatment and prevention programs

  • Established Children's Hospital Antimicrobial Stewardship Program with opportunities for expansion, particularly in outpatient stewardship initiatives

  • Participation in hospital-wide infection prevention efforts

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient pediatric infectious disease consultation services

  • Deliver outpatient Infectious Disease and HIV/PrEP clinical care

  • Participate in shared night and weekend home call coverage

  • Teach and supervise medical students, residents, and other learners

  • Mentor trainees in clinical research and scholarly activities

  • Contribute to antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, advocacy, and program development initiatives

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the Children's Hospital

Qualifications

  • MD or DO or equivalent degree

  • Completion of an accredited Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship program

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Infectious Diseases

  • Eligible for New York State medical license

  • Commitment to clinical excellence, education, and academic medicine

  • Interest in research, program development, advocacy, or stewardship initiatives preferred
