Job description

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The EDI Operations Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring, validation, and support of electronic data interchange (EDI) production processes. This role ensures scheduled jobs and file transmissions are completed accurately and on time while proactively identifying, troubleshooting, and escalating issues that could impact business operations.
The EDI Operations Analyst serves as the operational bridge between internal departments, vendors, and technical teams to ensure the integrity, quality, and timely delivery of inbound and outbound data. A strong emphasis is placed on production monitoring, issue resolution, quality assurance, and maintaining operational stability. 
 
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: 
Production Monitoring
  • Monitor daily scheduled production jobs using automation and scheduling tools (e.g., VisualCron, Obsidian, SFTP platforms, and related applications).
  • Verify successful completion of all inbound and outbound file processing.
  • Review production dashboards, logs, alerts, and system notifications for processing exceptions.
  • Perform routine operational health checks throughout the day.
  • Maintain production monitoring schedules to ensure all processing deadlines are met.
File Processing & Validation
  • Validate inbound and outbound EDI files for completeness and successful processing.
  • Confirm files are transmitted successfully to clients, vendors, and business partners.
  • Verify receipt acknowledgments and processing confirmations when applicable.
  • Monitor file sizes, processing counts, and expected delivery timelines.
  • Investigate missing, delayed, duplicate, or rejected files.
Issue Resolution
  • Troubleshoot production failures and restart scheduled jobs when appropriate.
  • Coordinate issue resolution with vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Document production incidents, root causes, corrective actions, and resolutions.
  • Escalate critical production issues according to established procedures.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to reduce recurring operational issues.
Quality Assurance & Operational Support
  • Perform quality checks to ensure files processed accurately and according to business requirements.
  • Communicate production issues and processing exceptions to impacted operational teams, with a strong focus on supporting Quality Assurance activities.
  • Verify processing results align with expected outcomes before business distribution.
  • Assist with production testing following system changes or vendor updates.
  • Support implementation of new EDI processes and operational enhancements.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain daily production checklists and operational documentation.
  • Update production logs and operational run books.
  • Track production metrics and recurring issues.
  • Assist in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives.

WORK REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 2–4 years of experience supporting production operations, EDI processing, healthcare operations, or related operational support.
  • Experience working with file transfer protocols (SFTP), batch processing, or production scheduling tools preferred.
  • Healthcare claims, eligibility, enrollment, or EDI experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working within a Third-Party Administrator (TPA) environment is a plus.
