Job description

COMPANY OVERVIEW
  • SpectronRx is a growing Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) based in Indianapolis, Indiana, with an additional location in South Bend. We are seeking an experienced Cyclotron Engineer to join our growing company. The Cyclotron Engineer will be accountable for operation of the Cyclotron(s). A cyclotron is a particle accelerator normally used for physics research and nuclear medicine.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Must have the ability to learn Cyclotron theory and Control interfaces and apply themselves to continually improve their understanding, interconnectivity of the Cyclotron components and their interface with the controlling software.
  • Must have general computer skills and comfort level working in front of a computer and the controlling software for several hours during a typical shift. Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) software is expected.
  • Must be able to demonstrate success at maintaining control set parameters.
  • Must be able to complete documentation required for day-to-day operations in both paper and computer format as needed for trend analysis and performance data.
  • Must be willing to assist with preventative maintenance on weekly, monthly, and quarterly intervals.
  • Must adhere to required start-up and shutdown procedures, check lists and protocols, as well as Quality Control SOP’s, and Regulatory policies and procedures as required.
  • Occupational radiation dose per government regulations and ALARA guidelines of less than 5 REM a year will be required as well as the use and understanding of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment, gloves, shoe covers, masks/respirators protective clothing, etc.), radiation measurement equipment and personal radiation monitoring. Must be able to pass annual ALARA radiation training and tests.
  • Must be able to provide timely information to his or her Supervisor regarding Cyclotron status or failure.
  • Must work in dangerous environments that will require full presence of mind and thought when dangers are encountered. These may include high voltages, falling hazards, tripping hazards or items falling from heights onto personnel. Chemical, airborne, mechanical and radiation hazards will also be a potential issue and as such the Cyclotron Engineer must understand these potential hazards and be vigilantly aware and prudent in correct response and avoidance.
  • Must be detail oriented and accountable as well as be able to work in a team environment with minimum supervision. Must be able to follow instructions and ask questions for clarity if needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Physical Ability – Must endure heavy physical exertion at times including walking, standing, reaching, and be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and push or pull a load up to 325 pounds. Must be able to climb ladders and use required safety equipment when needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in a Technical Discipline.
  • Thorough understanding of project management.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • At least 1 year of Cyclotron Experience
  • Working Knowledge of digital and analog circuitry
  • Working understanding of physics with regards to magnetic and electronic controls
  • Knowledge of basic cGMP practices and procedures
  • Ability to train and be trained
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Valid Indiana driver's license
• Pass a Background Check.
