Description

Tyto Athene is seeking a Network Engineer to support a Government Program Management Office in Suitland, Maryland.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Network Engineering services enabling network management for a global system from network design through implementation, configuration, maintenance, and sustainment.
  • Ensure customer requirements align with architecture designs and work closely with service delivery group to implement network upgrades, modernization efforts, equipment refresh support, and new network turn-ups.
  • Perform troubleshooting of complex network issues and implement corrective actions via installation, testing, evaluation, and coordination with other departments.
  • Continuously review existing WAN for performance, optimization, resilience, and security risks. Identify problem areas and develop solutions (feasibility/cost studies).
  • Assist with development, review, and preparation of briefing materials, reports, and other project documentation. Coordinate responses to multiple periodic reports.
  • Provide input to department strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. Provide a leadership role for the work group in application of network engineering demands.
  • Expect some travel (10-15%) to local, CONUS, and OCONUS locations.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT field or related technical discipline (cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, data science, software engineering, etc.).
  • Eight (8) or more years of overall IT experience, with at least four (4) years as a Network Engineer supporting Government customers.
  • Must have active Cisco CCNA certification in accordance with DODM 8140.03 Foundational Qualification requirements for Network Operations Work Role (Advanced).
  • Extensive knowledge of enterprise WAN/LAN, OSPF, routers, switches, firewalls, cabling, cryptographic equipment (e.g., TACLANE encryptors), QoS, VPNs, COOP disaster recovery, and related physical hardware.
  • Experience in protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network and cybersecurity measures.
  • Experience with Cisco network/firewall devices and the Cisco UCS switching fabric.
  • Experience with virtualization and network mgt software (VMWare, SolarWinds, etc).
  • High proficiency with specialized test equipment and network analysis/management tools to analyze network characteristics.
  • Excellent communication, time management, organization, and customer service skills (written and oral); able to effectively interact with customers, partners, and associates through a variety of remote support capabilities (ticketing, phone, email, RAS, etc.).

Desired:

  • Familiarity with DOD and/or U.S. Navy organizations and functional missions.
  • Experience planning, deploying, and maintaining cloud architectures, with emphasis on integrating on-premesis infrastructure with hybrid cloud environments.
  • Other applicable IT certifications, such as CCNP, MCSA/MCSE, CISSP, etc.

Clearance:

  • Current active TS/SCI clearance (Tier 5 investigation) as reported in DISS.

  • Work is 100% on-site in Suitland, MD
