Job Summary:

The Network Manager serves as the College's primary network infrastructure professional, responsible for the operation, security, maintenance, and lifecycle management of the institution's wired and wireless network environment. This position provides operational leadership and technical expertise to ensure the reliability, availability, performance, and security of the College's network infrastructure while supporting strategic growth and modernization initiatives.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift and install network equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Education and Experience:
  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field and four years of progressively responsible enterprise networking experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field and two years of progressively responsible enterprise networking experience preferred.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.
  • Industry-recognized networking certification (Cisco CCNA, Extreme Networks, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional education and technical development.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and technology initiatives simultaneously.

  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise networking, wireless infrastructure, cybersecurity, firewalls, VPNs, and network operations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve enterprise wired and wireless network infrastructure.
  • Manage and maintain switching, routing, firewalls, VPNs, wireless systems, cabling infrastructure, fiber backbone systems, and internet connectivity.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network issues.
  • Plan and implement network upgrades, expansions, lifecycle replacements, and improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, architecture diagrams, inventories, IP management records, and operational procedures.
  • Implement and maintain network security controls supporting the College's information security program.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology staff and campus stakeholders to support enterprise technology initiatives.
  • Develop productive relationships with vendors, contractors, internet service providers, and technology partners.
  • Evaluate emerging networking technologies and recommend improvements that enhance reliability, security, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain current knowledge of networking technologies, cybersecurity trends, and industry best practices through continuing education.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
