What We're Looking For:

Are you a Network Engineer with 2+ years of experience managing and maintaining mid-to-large LAN/WAN network devices looking for an opportunity with an amazing organization?ย  Iridium has a role for you!ย  The Network Engineer II will assist our Network Infrastructure team in maintaining the Mission, Commercial, and Enterprise networks. Working in this role, you'll gain valuable experience in maintaining functional network infrastructure and equipment, performing network and security testing, validation, and troubleshooting. You'll thrive in this role if you enjoy learning and adapting to a fast-paced environment where you can use multiple skills to deliver high quality solutions.

What You'll Do:
  • Maintain data center infrastructure equipment including network switches, routers, and firewalls including, but not limited to Cisco network devices such as Catalyst L3 switching and Nexus 7K/5K platforms, and Fortigate firewalls
  • Provide real time troubleshooting, independent problem resolution, and present analysis/issues to team, as needed
  • Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of networking and security hardware, and operating systems
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the network and security industry, technologies, and best practices
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of IT Documents (diagrams, procedures, etc.)
  • Provide 24/7 on-call assistance on an as-needed basis
What You'll Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar field, or 2+ years of related experience working with and maintaining mid-to-large scale LAN/WAN networks devices that include Cisco Routers, Switches, Firewall and other vendors networking technologies
  • Hands-on experience configuring and maintaining routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP and other industry standard protocols commonly used with networking devices such as Spanning-Tree, VRF, VTP, and VSS
  • Strong customer service orientation with proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability and interest in developing an understanding of Iridium IT policies and procedures
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical network and security concepts to groups outside of your team or to those who are unfamiliar with the topic
  • Possess an analytical mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions and come up with out-of-the-box solutions
  • Have confidence and be able to easily build relationships with leadership and colleagues outside of your team
  • The ability to prioritize your tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct your mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed
  • Proactivity in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and enthusiasm in sharing knowledge with others
Things Thatย Would beย Greatย if You Brought to the Table:
  • Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Fortinet Network Security Certified Professional are preferred. Other certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+) are a plus
  • Knowledge and understanding of AWS cloud features, solutions, and services such as VPC, Transit Gateway, and/or AWS partners virtual routers like the Cisco CSR or similar products.
  • Experience working in a Linux environment and with VMware or other hypervisor virtualized environments
  • Well versed in use of MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio
  • Proficient with network management tools such as SolarWinds , Cisco ISE, and Wireshark
We'll also need you to:
  • Be available to support 24x7 on-call on an as-needed basis
  • Be able to travel occasionally, typically 1 or 2 times per year
  • Be a US Citizen
  • Be able to work a hybrid schedule that includes a minimum of 80% of your time (4 days in-office)
  • Able to lift 50lbs and climb ladders
Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.ย

Under Iridium's Hybrid Work Policy, employees are expected to work at least four days per week (approximately 80%) in an Iridium office to support collaboration, relationship-building, and professional growth.

Base Pay Range: $75,000 - $100,000 USD

Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors and this range represents an estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Base salary is only one part of our compensation package for this role.ย You may also be eligible for company stock and annual bonus.
