Job description

Summary Description: Implements and supports on-premise and Azure based infrastructure to include Active Directory/Entra ID, Azure networking and security (VNETs, private endpoints, DNS, MFA), VMware, Windows Server OS as well as other applications, servers within datacenter operations to automate and streamline business and IT processes. Acts as escalation point for endpoint support.

Academic and Trade Qualifications: Associate’s degree in computer science or equivalent required.  Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent preferred.  Combination of training and work experience may be substituted for the educational requirements.

Work Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in datacenter operations, troubleshooting, and implementations required.  Azure networking/security, virtualization (VMware), MS365 suite, storage and operating system experience are required. Experience with SQL Server enterprise, Rubrik, and Pure storage preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements and Supports Azure networking, Entra ID, and security, Microsoft on-prem Active Directory, VMware vCenter / ESX, Windows Server, Entra ID, Microsoft 365 and other data center technologies.
  • Assists with systems administration and maintenance within recognized best practices.
  • Maintains servers, operating systems, storage, data backups, IT management systems and other related equipment or software.
  • Configures computing platforms including Windows 11 and Office 365 using Microsoft Intune.
  • Provides monitoring and support for datacenter systems and applications.
  • Provides second tier support to the ServiceDesk including the use of ticketing, change management and other key customer support measures and metrics.
  • Follows the established procedures for change control, root cause analysis, issue resolution, service ticket creation, assignment resolution and closure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Job Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AD, Vmware, and storage and compute technologies (Pure, UCS, HP, etc). Knowledge of datacenter hardware, desktop and server operating systems, applications and operations.  Sound knowledge of documentation processes, operational procedures, project planning and quality assurance techniques.

Abilities and Skills:  An aptitude for communications and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships (internally and externally) is a must. Position should be a self-starter who is well organized and a team player, have excellent presentation and communications skills and be able to multi-task and work under established deadlines. Should be able to learn new technologies and apply knowledge to build repeatable processes.  

Relationships and Contacts: Must be able to maintain internal relationships necessary to achieve the purpose of the position and the desired results. Work cooperatively with staff members of other divisions and key partners to resolve mutual operational problems and meet corporate policies, procedures and goals.  May interact with vendors, consultants and contractors as necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.
